What made the replacement necessary in each case was the cracking of the band, always in the same place. It appears the leather stiffens over time and sooner or later it is necessary to replace it or it will split. When the second band started splitting, I ordered this band, even though I could have gotten another all-leather Expedition band for leas money, because it appeared from the picture that there was a mesh section in the band just where I have had problems. Now that I have the band on my watch, I can confirm there are mesh sections on either side of the watch. With the mesh, I should not have the problem experienced before, and also the band fits tighter on my slim wrist because it is more flexible. As my leather band aged and hardened, it became very loose on my wrist. I do not expect that to happen with this band thanks to the mesh section.I should also mention that it is a good looking band. Looks as good as my previous leather bands. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Fine for the Price *by L***L on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on January 20, 2013* This watchband is a decent cosmetic replacement for the original, but nothing special. Color and fit are fine and it looks close enough to stock to be serviceable. It is, however, altogether cheaper in material quality than an original Swiss Army band. Not that a nylon-web and leather trimmed watchband speaks quality when new, but this one is still a bit low-end. The leather is less supple and thinner than the original. The metal clasp is thinner, with sharper edges. Even the nylon webbing is thinner than the original. Naturally, we expect it will be less durable than the the original. But, for an older watch, that we weren't ready to replace, it should be OK. NOTE: be sure to keep the pins from your old band to re-use, as they are not included with this band. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice replacement band *by L***E on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on October 11, 2013* I needed to replace the watch band on my Swiss Army watch and took a chance on this replacement band. While it is not as nice as the original it is a very good replacement. While it lacks the embossed markings like the original that is about the only major difference. The quality of the leather appears to bit a bit thinner but as long as it holds up who cares.
