Full disclosure: I haven't read these all. I have sampled, but this was a gift. So the majority of the 5*s belongs to the physical product. This is a beautiful box set of 3 well produced, hardcover books. The books have great covers and pictures. The set comes with a nice poster. The idea of the book is great and what I read was fun and interesting. I gave it to my 11 year old and he loves it. This made a great gift.

These books are a lot of fun. My husband is an avid Star Wars fan, and my children and I read a lot of Shakespeare in our homeschool. We've all enjoyed reading how these books came to be. We're particularly fond of Yoda, who speaks in haiku. The author says in his introduction that he's not a Shakespeare scholar, but has memorized the dialogue from all the Star Wars movies and managed to put it all into iambic pentameter. That's an impressive feat in my book. It's been fun to discuss these as a family for sure. If you have a reluctant Shakespeare student who happens to love Star Wars, this might be just the ticket to get them interested in The Bard!

I have been seeing these books around for a few years now an coveting them. When a friend who lives far away mentioned how much he wants to read them too, we came up with a fantastic plan to read them together as a friends-across-distance plan. Anyway, for the listed price I was concerned that I might be receiving a damaged copy, but the books showed up ahead of the shipping schedule in brand-new condition.Anyway, I sat down with Verily, A New Hope as soon as they arrived, planning to just flip through it, and had read the entire thing two hours later. These are SO well done. Not only are they absolutely true to both the original Star Wars Trilogy, they are completely true to Shakespearean style. As an added bonus, they integrate such lovely perks as R2D2's beeps and boops and Chewie's "Auughhhs" into the rhythm and sometimes even the rhyme of the writing, There's even a cute poster done by (I believe) the cover artist.

This trilogy of the first released Star Wars series is wonderful. The most fun I have had reading books in years. The familiar story is faithfully reported in Shakespearean iambic pentameter. It is hard to improve on George Lukas, but William Shakespeare style and language is a truly remarkable adjunct. As an aerospace engineer and fan of Shakespeare I never imagined that these two interests would ever merge but they do in this delightful boxed set of three books. His language fast-forwarded to our modern space-oriented technology really gets into ones head. I even find myself speaking to my wife in Shakespearean English these days, although not always in iambic pentameter.

As a long time Star Wars fan, these books are a joy to read. Besides the normal script, there are many asides that take you inside the characters' thought processes. This is even done with characters that had no lines, such as the AT-AT walkers and ugnaughts. So besides being novel entertainment, it gives new perspectives, new depth, and even some funny commentary. Occasionally, the Shakespearean writing crosses the line from authentic to gimmicky, but by and large is quite fulfilling.

My brother isn't much of a reader but he is a big fan of Star Wars so I got him these as a display piece. He seems to like them!

Got it used and was in excellent condition. Beautiful box set with nice images, have yet to read it but am very impressed so far and would recommend for any collector. Great price also. Read the overwhelming positive reviews and they are accurate.

Ich habe diese Trilogie in vollen Zügen genossen. Geschrieben mit einer Menge genialem Humor, im viktorianischem Englisch und dem von Shakespeares Werken bekannten jambischen Pentameter. Die Illustrationen sind sehr schön gestaltet und erinnern an die dramatischen Zeichnungen in Shakespeare-Lektüren aus der Schulzeit. Die Bücher sind sehr schick gestaltet - unter den hübsch illustrierten Schutzumschlägen verbergen sich Einbände, welche wie Jahrzehnte alte und von hunderten Leserhänden abgegriffene Ledereinbände gestaltet sind. Zusätzlich verbirgt sich in der (ebenfalls sehr schön gestalteten) Box ein knapp ein Meter breites und 20cm "hohes" Poster - beide zeigen dieselbe schön und witzig gestaltete Illustration der Charaktere auf einer Theaterbühne - toll!
