## Description

The 201 most commonly used Turkish verbs are transliterated into the Roman alphabet and presented one to a page.

Review: very helpful to me - so I've read some unfavorable reviews of this book, and I decided to buy it anyway and see what I thought... As a beginner learning Turkish, I've only found "201 Turkish Verbs" very helpful. The preface has a list of other sourcebooks to use. The forward gives some very useful and interesting information about the Turkish language. The introduction goes into more technical depth - but it's still a quick overview. Even so,I still don't understand everything that is explained there. Then, there are the 200 verbs conjugated in present, present progressive, future, definite past, indefinite past, necessity, subjunctive (groan), conditional, and imperative. Yes, Turkish is very regular in its verb conjugations - The last sections of the book go over conjugation of negative and interrogative forms, a list of compound and auxiliary verbs, and "permutations of the past tenses," which I have yet to understand and figure out. Finally there is a Turkish-English verb index, and an English-Turkish verb index... well, to me, the beginner can learn a whole hell of a lot from this book as well as have a reference for the times when she/he needs to figure out a tense or doesn't remember the way to conjugate that tense... the most useful verbs are included... if you can't find the verb you are looking for, you can use the examples provided to figure out what you need. I'm very happy with this book... The one thing I thought was cheap was the font...! But the font doesn't keep me from learning the content... so that is a poor excuse to drop its rating...
Review: an important tool in my Turkish language arsenal - This is a very helpful book to someone who's at the beginner or intermediate level of learning the turkish language. I had read a lot of reviews before buying this book. I am glad I decided to buy it. It has helped me reinforce proper verb conjugation and is an excellent reference tool. I foresee myself carrying this book with me wherever I go on my next trip to Turkey. If you're having doubts about it, trust me and buy it. You will be happy you did.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ an important tool in my Turkish language arsenal

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ helpful if you are a serious student
*by F***T on August 18, 2013*

This book is helpful if you need to look up a verb and double check whether you have the conjugation right. Turkish is very regular, so if you learn the rules, this book is unnecessary. I do find it helpful, because I sometimes forget whether to drop a vowel or add a y. I do find it handy, because a lot of Turkish verbs are spelled very similarly, and I can flip through the book to learn all of the common Turkish verbs. I don't recommend it for learning grammar, as it's more of just a handy reference of verbs and their tenses. It won't teach you much beyond that. If you are a serious student of Turkish, then I think this is a book worth having in your collection. If you are looking for one or two books for learning Turkish, then pass on this one. Buy Elementary Turkish by Thomas and Starting Turkish by Dogan. Those two books are what have helped me the most. My husband is Turkish, and those two books help me when I visit Turkey and speak to my in-laws.
