helpful if you are a serious student
This book is helpful if you need to look up a verb and double check whether you have the conjugation right. Turkish is very regular, so if you learn the rules, this book is unnecessary. I do find it helpful, because I sometimes forget whether to drop a vowel or add a y. I do find it handy, because a lot of Turkish verbs are spelled very similarly, and I can flip through the book to learn all of the common Turkish verbs.I don't recommend it for learning grammar, as it's more of just a handy reference of verbs and their tenses. It won't teach you much beyond that.If you are a serious student of Turkish, then I think this is a book worth having in your collection. If you are looking for one or two books for learning Turkish, then pass on this one. Buy Elementary Turkish by Thomas and Starting Turkish by Dogan. Those two books are what have helped me the most. My husband is Turkish, and those two books help me when I visit Turkey and speak to my in-laws.

A Necessary Addition to Your Collection
...if you're trying to learn Turkish and are past the simple phrase books, you will find this book an enormous help! This is a supplement, not complete by itself. Add a dictionary and a language course or two, and how happy you may be!Now, I only wanted to know the present, past and perhaps a bit of the future -- this gave me more than I needed or understood! It would have been helpful (for us low-brows) if it offered translations by tense. It gives the translation for the verb, but you're on your own to sort out Aortist/Present, Present Progressive, Future, Definite Past, Indefinite Past, Necessity, Opative (Subjunctive), Conditional and Imperative. Then again, it gives you an opportunity to research these tenses on your own.See notes by other reviewers - this book is evidently best for American English speakers. In addition, a reader from Scandinavia points out that there are needed definitions for some of the verbs (some do not match exactly the American translation).

very helpful to me
so I've read some unfavorable reviews of this book, and I decided to buy it anyway and see what I thought... As a beginner learning Turkish, I've only found "201 Turkish Verbs" very helpful. The preface has a list of other sourcebooks to use. The forward gives some very useful and interesting information about the Turkish language. The introduction goes into more technical depth - but it's still a quick overview. Even so,I still don't understand everything that is explained there. Then, there are the 200 verbs conjugated in present, present progressive, future, definite past, indefinite past, necessity, subjunctive (groan), conditional, and imperative. Yes, Turkish is very regular in its verb conjugations - The last sections of the book go over conjugation of negative and interrogative forms, a list of compound and auxiliary verbs, and "permutations of the past tenses," which I have yet to understand and figure out. Finally there is a Turkish-English verb index, and an English-Turkish verb index... well, to me, the beginner can learn a whole hell of a lot from this book as well as have a reference for the times when she/he needs to figure out a tense or doesn't remember the way to conjugate that tense... the most useful verbs are included... if you can't find the verb you are looking for, you can use the examples provided to figure out what you need. I'm very happy with this book... The one thing I thought was cheap was the font...! But the font doesn't keep me from learning the content... so that is a poor excuse to drop its rating...

Somewhat helpful
It's not as much help as such lists are for Indo-European languages, but with Turkish you need all the help you can get. I've been working through the Pollards' "Teach Yourself Turkish" (and by the way, to get the tapes for that you have to go to the U.K. Amazon.com) and it was helpful in recognizing strange words that are not glossed and turn out to be unfamilar verb forms that a dictionary would not give you. The problem is that Turkish is so completely different from French or German in its entire structure that you have to learn completely different concepts. As a simple example a verb is changed to a negative form by putting a syllable in the middle of it. I haven't yet figured the vowel harmony thing. I'm still planning my trip to Turkey for October.

an important tool in my Turkish language arsenal
This is a very helpful book to someone who's at the beginner or intermediate level of learning the turkish language. I had read a lot of reviews before buying this book. I am glad I decided to buy it. It has helped me reinforce proper verb conjugation and is an excellent reference tool. I foresee myself carrying this book with me wherever I go on my next trip to Turkey. If you're having doubts about it, trust me and buy it. You will be happy you did.

Just verbs, as expected. The rest is very disappointing.
This book has what it says: conjugated verbs. That part is ok and I didn't expect anything else. What was very disappointing was the cheap quality of the printing. I am used to books on Turkish language being ugly, especially in Turkey, and this one being published in the U.S., I expected better quality. But no, it's even worse than the Turkish ones. Cheap paper, cheap printing and awful, very old fashioned typesetting. No design whatsoever. VERY UGLY TO LOOK AT. And for $15 it's really a ripoff.

This book is totally worth it if you're learning Turkish.
I love this book, it is so helpful and I mostly use it with a Turkish dictionary but it can also be used alone. Overall great book for learning Turkish.

Çok iyi
Having used, and loved, the French 501 verbs, I bought this knowing what a useful reference tool it is. Unlike the French one, however, it doesn't provide the same excellent examples and explanations of the various verb tenses at the beginning of the book nor the pages of wonderful idiomatic phrases at the end. Nevertheless, it is still an excellent quick reference when wanting to check one's verb conjugation!

Poorly presented
I have seen much better verbs books than this. It's laconic and doesn't really have any translations, it merely lists out all the forms. It doesn't even highlight any unusual things to watch out for or what forms are in common or less common usage. Also unlike with many verb books there are no example sentences. The print and presentation are positively medieval. A very poor effort.

An indispensable referencer
This is the second copy of this book I have bought - I donated my old one to a friend! It is not an easy read but it is a very useful tool when trying to crack Turkish verbs. The verb which comes at the end of a sentence is a vital part of learning the language. This book translates the most common verbs in all the tenses you will need to use, and some! As most of the verbs follow regular patterns it is easy with help from this book to conjugate those not listed.

Good delivery but overpriced product
The delivery speed was good. Unfortunately the condition of the book was inadequate for the price charged for the book (and including the pp it is too much). I am requesting a discount or a return.
