Art of Sanjay's Super Team

Packaging was very poor and I recieved this book in very awfull condition.But,the book is great. Loved this book😊I love sanjay patel's work.

The media could not be loaded.  I actually enjoyed this 7-min short film more than The Good Dinosaur that followed.There are several things about Sanjay's Super Team that I really like. First is how different the idea and concept is compared to all other different Pixar films. It's actually something about culture and religion. The second is the action scenes that are really dynamic, impactful, almost anime-like. And third is the beautiful lighting and set design. All these are discussed in the book.This 130-page hardcover is a wonderful companion to the short film. It collects plenty of concept art with commentary by director Sanjay Patel and other artists who worked on the film.There's a touching introduction about how Sanjay's father and the Indian culture inspired the story. Throughout the book, there's interesting details on how the characters came about and how storytelling was to be approached.The artworks are also fantastic. There are storyboards, designs for the characters and the temple set. All are drawn in a very stylised manner that's can be considered similar to picture books that Sanjay Patel has worked on.There's so much depth and information compared to the recent Pixar artbooks that are almost wordless, e.g.  The Art of Good Dinosaur  and  The Art of Inside Out . Un autre commentaire sur cet ouvrage m'a décidé à sortir ma plume pour rédiger ce billet. Je n'ai pas vu le court-métrage qui passait avant le monde d'Arlo (est-il passé en France ?), je ne l'ai donc découvert que bien plus tard. Et quelle claque ! On peut aimer ou pas l'approche graphique, mais la poésie et l'émotion qui se dégagent de la relation de Sanjay et son père, de son approche à lui de l'hindouisme, qui va finir par rencontrer celle de son père, le tout à la fin d'une aventure extraordinaire à la rencontre de dieux guerriers protecteurs... Du très grand pixar. Et cet ouvrage en est le reflet parfait.Tout d'abord, on ne peut pas lui reprocher sa taille, puisqu'elle est indiquée dans l'annonce. Si on trouve ça trop petit, on ne l'achète pas. Ensuite, le livre est épais, l'impression de même qualité que les "art of" habituels et le contenu d'une richesse qui n'a rien à envier aux autres ouvrages des longs métrages Pixar. Etudes de personnages, grandes fresques étalées sur deux pages, sur lesquelles je formulerais d'ailleurs mon seul reproche : mesdames et messieurs les maquettistes, arrêtez de faire des spreads dans lesquels le point focal est pile sur la reliure, c'est ridicule !! (j'ai bien failli enlever une étoile pour ça).On y trouve également et surtout l'histoire personnelle de Sanjay Patel, son approche de l'hindouisme, ce qui a motivé ce court-métrage et les témoignages de toute l'équipe qui a travaillé avec lui. C'est un récit passionnant, d'une grande poésie dans lequel on plonge sans réserve. J'ai d'ailleurs découvert, grâce à ce livre, les autres ouvrages de Patel sur le sujet, la vulgarisation du panthéon indien pour les petits et les grands. Je conseille également !En résumé, je trouve assez logique d'avoir un plus petit livre pour un court-métrage, c'est plutôt une chouette idée, et on oublie vite le format quand on se plonge dans la richesse visuelle et textuelle offertes par l'ouvrage, qui prolonge avec délice et émotion l'expérience de ce formidable court-métrage, dont on en viendrait presque à souhaiter qu'il soit adapté... en long métrage !

Gründe sind vielfältig, aber dieses Buch darf man nicht kaufen... Chronicle Books auf Abwegen, merkwürdige Geschäftspraktiken. Recherchieren Sie mal selber warum es NUR zu diesem Pixar Kurzfilm ein Art of Buch gibt...

Great value for the money, it's the first time I've seen an art book for a short. Hope this will be a recurring thing in the animation industry :)It's smaller than usual art of books in size dimensions, the others are usually more landscape but this is closer to a square!There's insight into just about every aspect of the production of this short, via concept art, text and screenshots.I'm a huge fan of Sanjay's art so this is a great edition to go alongside the Divine loophole on my shelf!
