Taboo: Season One

Probably Tom Hardy's best performance in my humble opinion. All eight episodes were great. It puts a hook on you and it will not let go! Think of a Nine Inch Nail video and The Blair Witch Project and the most barbarian aspects of a Monty Python film. Taboo is harsh and deranged, brutal and mythical, grim and gloomy, savage. Terrific cast and awesome cinematography. The costumes, art direction, set design, special effects are all spectacular. I don't recall one single moment of sunshine throughout the entire series. It is always dark, damp and grimy--shapes, forms, humans and rodents always crawling and lurking in the shadows--all of which add to its mystery and intensity of the show. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed this one! Tom Hardy is a pleasure to watch performing his craft - par excellence!Good script and great character casting. Loved the personification of England in the very early 1800s. The ending hinted at a sequel.

This show has great actors and a good plot. It moves along nicely and held my attention at all times.

Absolutely LOVED this show! Wish there'd be a 2nd season. Tom Hardy is great in it.

April 4, 2025 - This review is for the first season, with the understanding that at some point there will be a second season. I am very happy with the first season, and can only hope that if there is a second season. That it will be of the same quality as the first one. I think everything about the first season is impressive.. The production values, the acting, the casting, the direction, and the writing. A very important thing for me is that the production company managed to do a good job in regards to DEI. There are characters that represent various subgroups and races. However, they all are believable in their roles. There are black characters of importance, along with gay and white characters. There is none of the forced DEI very current in American and Western European productions. There are no blond Zulus, or black British queens.

intelligent, funny, thought provoking and surprising engulfing given all the twists, turns and subplots. not one boring moment. Great writing and quick paced. I read somewhere that Hardy wrote (or co-wrote) the story. I really hope he does more of this kind of acting. (also liked child 44 and lawless.) He really is an excellent actor.

top notch actors with a ton of turns along the way in this epic period piece. Binge away!
