The Best Option for Quality Water
I had my doubts when my husband chose this brand and model. But after nearly a year of use, I wonder how I used to get by without this. The taste is superior, and it's quite cost efficient. One downside is cold water drains pretty quickly after filling our 32 oz cups, and takes a while to refill. But if you use a regular glass or smaller cups, it shouldn't be a problem. Personally I don't use the hot water on this unit because my insulated electric kettle does such a great job that I simply don't need the function. But the hot water setting does work as well. Filters can be purchased at a 15% discount in Avalon if you subscribe. I couldn't be happier with the purchase.

Water smells like plastic!
It's a neat machine but it makes the water smell so bad. I've been using it for 2.5 months now and it still smells bad. I thought that the smell would go away after a few uses but NOPE! I have drank my tap water right out of the faucet before and it DOES NOT SMELL... but ever since installing this water filtering system it makes the water have a strong plastic smell. This machine also stores about just a little over a gallon of cold water. I know because I use it to make kool-aid by the gallon and once I fill my container up to a gallon the stream gets smaller (like the water is running out). The hot water is good since it's heated it kind of gets rid of the plastic smell but it's not worth it for the whole machine because I am a cold water drinker. I'm so disappointed now and there's no way I can return this water filtering system now.

Best investment this year.
10 out of 10 I don’t know how we lived without this thing before now. Literally use the hot water to make coffee, grits ,oatmeal ,mashed potatoes. You name it. The cold water is ice cold like you don’t even need the ice it’s the perfect temp. The middle button, which is the room temperature is Actually room temperature and not cold. I have a husband with sensitive teeth. He will only drink room temperature or water. This thing is a blessing in disguise. Very well worth the money. I would recommend this to anyone that has a household that consumes a lot of water. I was purchasing eight cases of water a week from stores before we bought this.

not sure if the leak was my fault
Nice piece of gear. A couple of days after I had it hooked up by a licensed plumber, I experienced a leak. Maybe a gallon of water on the floor, but no clues where it came from because the leak stopped. A week or so later, the same thing happened and again, nothing apparent. I called the manufacturer and they were very helpful (got a live person almost immediately). We tried a couple of things but nothing seemed to address the issue, however, I've had no problems in the last couple of months and it works perfectly. Replacement filters a quite expensive.

DO NOT BUY!! RARE DEFECT!
Save your money BY protecting this item. BUY THE PROTECTION PLAN!!! I purchased model # a12-ctpou. I bought this thinking it was the best to buy a “better brand” AND I got the newer model. Keep in mind i’ve only had it for two years it just hit two years last month . I called Avalon and they made me do a process where you clean the tank with citric acid crystals because the hot water stopped coming out hot and the cold water was literally freezing the tank so a big ice cube was in the tank. Therefore it would stop dispensing water until I unplugged it and the ice cube melted which took a couple days Because of the insulation it has. Once I did that I called back and of course they created a case number they asked when I had purchased the item and they saw that the warranty was only for a year worth of coverage. Keep in mind that They did say this was super rare for it to happen because I don’t know if you guys but I’ve never heard of anyone’s water dispenser freezing the water. Overall we came to the conclusion that it was the thermostat but then again it was a $300 item so therefore it was something defective but it wasn’t a common issue Therefore they need to fix that as a company. Anyway I had to call Amazon because that’s who I originally purchased fromand thankfully they reminded me that I had a protection plan but save your money and don’t buy this model or do your research some more or buy the protection plan to cover your a**. It a f***** water dispenser it shouldn’t last 2 years.

This is a great water dispenser and I couldnt be happier. I easily hooked this direct-plumb dispenser with a splitter from my direct-plumb coffee maker. Yes, this unit is big and will NOT fit under most people’s cabinets to sit on a kitchen counter. I have it in a separate pantry-style cabinet along with my coffee maker so the size was not a problem for me. I had read other reviews that said the water was plasticky tasting and thought they must have just gotten unlucky. After running a lot of water through my dispenser, my water was plasticky tasting too. Ugh. I unplugged and drained the unit. Because I couldnt decide which to use, I combined warm water with some vinegar AND some lemon juice and filled the water reservoir to full (2 screws on top back of unit and pop the white lid off inside). I let it sit about an hour in the reservoir. Then ran a bit of the vinegar-lemon water out the hot and cold into a container. Then I drained the whole unit again (easy to do - follow instructions or look up online). I then hooked it all back up to the water lines and filled it again with fresh water. Let that sit about 15 mins, ran water out hot and cold, unplugged and drained the whole unit a second time. My water is FRESH, COLD and delicious! Couldnt be happier with this dispenser and have returned my big bottles for refund.

Beautiful, well-built, comes with clear installation instructions. The hot water comes out almost boiling, and the cold water is also very cold.

Bought, installed and have used for close to two months now. Had some troubles with leaking connections. There was some leak on connections that were completed in factory. Called Avalon support, did not get help, they advised me to return everything to Amazon, even tough installation was completed in my house. Then decided to try to fix it by myself, luckily it was easy fix. Connections appear to be loose they required fixing. Turned water off during our vacation and when turning back on, leak occurred again, at different connections this time. Required some fixing again. Found that connections are not very reliable. Other than that dispenser works fine, providing both hot and cool water, filtered and tasteless. There are two levels, cool and cold, they are a little to cold for my taste. Adjustment of water temperature not possible. After using it for 3 years with no issues, It ended up with water freezing in dispenser. I asked for help from a manufacturer, they told me to just unfreeze it and plug in again after 3 days. I did so, but after another week it froze again. This time the customer support advised me that it cannot be fixed, it is out of warranty and that they can offer me a new one for 15% discount. Later I read more customer reviews and found that quite a few users had the same issue as I did. Many after it barely passed one year of usage. Considering that paying $400 for couple years usage and on top of that its filters replacement cost almost half product price, I decided to not accept this offer. For now i keep using it and unplugging over night every few days to prevent freezing, so fa so good.

No more storing large bottles for a cooler. Very simple to install - Took me less than 15 minutes. Came with all the tubing and fittings I needed. Runs flawlessly and very quiet. I never want to go back to a water cooler with large bottles to switch out

We are getting ready to install this in our new kitchen, but we just realized there is an important piece missing. The manual says that this Avalon product should come with a metal adapter with valve (3/8 compression), and I've searched the box a few times, as well as the unit, and the valve was missing. I'm searching online and this valve doesn't seem to be an easy one to get either. This is quite frustrating. Also... 2 years later, sensor is kaput and keeps freezing all the water inside... not a great purchase if you are investing in long term.
