Rock-solid, plug-and-play network switch
2026 Review Update: 7+ years in, and this switch is still a tank! So I got this Netgear switch in 2019, and it was solid, but in 2023 I thought it'd be nice to upgrade to a 2.5G, so I switched my switch over to a MokerLink 2.5Gb model, and it was a total fail (which I discuss in my earlier review, below).... But then, in late 2025, I'd heard that UGREEN was making great 2.5Gb switches at relatively affordable prices (the cost of 2.5Gb and 10GB switches from the top brands like Netgear still being priced at a premium, I was hoping to play around with faster speeds without breaking the bank). So I got a nice-looking UGREEN 2.5Gb switch with a metal chassis, and, well, although it didn't seem to be a whole lot faster for my real-world usage, it seemed pretty good overall... For a while... But then my network started acting a bit unstable, so I switched to an even newer UGREEN model, but that proved lackluster as the specs were actually not as good (including a plastic housing), so I switched back to metal UGREEN, and as I couldn't prove it had been the cause of the network hiccups... Cut to early 2026, and my Ethernet network has continued getting increasingly unstable, until finally my Mac Studio stopped recognizing the ethernet network coming from the UGREEN switch at all.... So what did I do? I pulled the good ol' classic Netgear GS105NA switch back out of storage (I'd been meaning to give it away, but thank goodness I'd kept it!) and plugged it back in -- and now my network is rock solid again, and my devices, including my Mac, that are plugged into the switch are having no issues. This little, metal, simple but nearly indestructible Netgear switch just keeps on chugging along. Other brands can't touch it. A working 1Gb switch is always gonna win over a flaky 2.5Gb switch. Maybe I should start saving up for a Netgear 2.5Gb or 10Gb switch -- if they've maintained this level of stability and durability with their newer models, it'd be worth paying a bit extra instead of having these switches from less brands that burn out every 6 months. -------------------------------------- 2023 Review: I bought a NETGEAR 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch (GS105NA) more than 4 years ago, plugged it into my network (connecting my router and a few other devices via ethernet, including a computer, a TV, and a Nintendo Switch), and that was that: It. Just. Worked. And it has never stopped working! Without any fumbling about with settings or having to worry about ports dying or dropped connections etc. (knock on wood). This discreet little unit runs 24-7 without a hitch, and without any advanced set-up or mataintenance being needed. Exactly what one wants from an unmanaged switch! Recently I tried switching to a 2.5Gb switch from another brand (a MokerLink switch). Theoretically this should've sped my network up tremendously, since I now have a router and multiple devices that support 2.5Gb ethernet... However, the new router turned out to be nothin' but trouble, and ultimately I had to put this good ol' Netgear 1Gb back into service instead, to keep the Internet and local services running properly for everyone in the house. This made me appreciate just how trouble-free and reliable this quiet, affordable, unassuming little switch has been all of these years. Thus this review. Hopefully Netgear's 2.5Gb switches are as good as this old warhorse.

Great product, only one failed after 10 years and Netgear replaced it for free within 2 days!
I have used these same network switches for about 11 years. I have 5 in my home for my network system. It is a large home with three floors and two offices. I tie in 3 servers, 6 tower computers, one laptop, 4 laser printers, digital scanners, 2 digital security video systems, ROKUs, and multiple AP systems to cover my home and yard. I also have two WIFI systems with high power AP points. I have had great luck with these switches. I did have one fail after 10 years and I called the company and I was sent a replacement at no charge and it arrived within 2 days. Since then I have purchased two more as spares and for expansion into our finished basement. I will only purchase Netgear switches based on the product quality, performance and great customer support I have seen. They stand behind their lifetime warranty and because of that I am a loyal customer. This is a very reliable company and they stand behind their company's products with a first class warranty! It is installed as a network hub in my basement and it is working fine. Great quality product. I highly recommend this unit. I like that these hubs are no maintenance and they are plug and play. They work well and last without any issues. Top quality with good support and a great warranty! What I like is that they work so well you almost forget about them being in your network system. Why buy a second class product when you can have a top quality product at a great price and with the best warranty around? My past experience with this product has proven to me that it is superior quality with excellent product support. I have purchased more of these units for use in my home as I like the quality and customer support. It is nice knowing that this is a reliable high-tech supplier that stands behind their product.

Does the job
Works great! I have an old Netgear 5 port Fast Ethernet Switch and I was surprised at how the build quality has changed much. Solid construction and a Limited Lifetime Warranty. Plug and play, good performance and a great price.

Running for 24/7 for 9 months w/o issue.
Woks well, and is silent. Not as fast as my previous switch (enterprise switch), but close. It is mounted in my 15u rack and has been running 24/7 for about 9 months without issue.

Runs fine and extra port speed works well
I have 1.2gb Xfinity internet service. I replaced my modem to take advantage of the extra speed as my other modem could only go up to 1.0gb speed. I have a firewall after my modern and it can handle 2.5gb as well, so I needed a switch to connect to firewall, and then from switch to my Eeero Pro 6E (which has a 2.5gb port). With all now running through 2.5gb port I dod get the full speed of my Xfinity, of course except to those devices with older wireless or 1.0gb network card. This switch is not cheap but I have always used Netgear for my switches and have never had an issue. So far I have had no issues with this switch. Everything is working well and I'm able to take advantage of my 1.2gb speed or higher speeds in the future. I'm happy with my purchase and would buy again, just hope prices for 2.5gb products go down over time.

Perfect for splitting Ethernet connections
I use this in my Home Theater setup, so I can take advantage of the faster ethernet speeds vs Wi-Fi. I'm sharing it with my TV, Denon AVR, Panasonic Blue Ray player and formerly with a DirecTv receiver. Works great! We'll built and plug and play.

Robust and Reliable
This is the "business class" switch primarily for small office/home office and does cost a little more than cheaper switches. But what you get is a nice, self-cooling (fanless/noiseless), rugged metal case, easy plug 'n play connectivity and a great warranty (which I doubt you'll ever need). Even has an on/off switch. I use two: one in order to bring my Metronet eero router (has only 1 ethernet output port) out to a mesh wireless master, VoIP interface, ethernet from whole house generator and 2 ethernet runs to floors 1 and 2. The one on floor two gives ethernet connectivity to desktop, printer and 3rd mesh backhaul. These are solid, continuously on - just dependable.

Advice for
Bought this to replace another Netgear switch as I wanted ports with better bandwidth. Simple to install, literally just plug in and off you go. The thing I would point out is for anyone ordering outside USA, the plug is a US plug and mine didn't like the adapter for a UK socket, the plug failed. I have replaced this with a suitable UK plug (Output: DC 12V 1A) and it is running without issue. Would buy again.

Awesome plug and play.
That's about it really. Awesome plug and play. If an idiot like me can use it, so can you.
