REMETTE Rhino Pocket Knife, 3" 14C28N Steel Blade Durable Micarta Handle EDC Folding Knife with Reversible Pocket Clip for Men Women, Sharp Camping Hiking Work Knife RT0315 - desertcart.com

Review: 🔥UPDATED GEN 2 MODEL /OPEN AND CLOSE BLADE WITH BUTTON /GREAT BUDGET KNIFE IN 14C28N STEEL🔥 - The rhino is my first REMETTE knife. I bought it because I saw a positive review of the peacock they make on YouTube. First thing is you receive a nice branded pouch, cleaning cloth and even a wrench with t6 on one end and t8 on the other. That's a nice touch especially if your someone who doesn't have a torx head bit screwdriver. The Micarta feels great and all the edges of the scales are chamfered and smooth. The chamfering gives the scales and liners a slight shadow boxed look and feel. The knife feels good in the hand, no hot spots. The clip is right hand carry only. Sorry lefties, maybe REMETTE can fix this. Clip is inset in the scales and held by flush t6 screws. Nice. There are only three t6 "scale" screws total on the clip side, 2 on the show side and two t8 pivot screws. I would like to see all t8 body screws and only one t8 pivot screw to have to adjust. The blade opens easy with the front thumb flipper, thumb studs and can be finger/ spydie flicked open with the cut outs on both sides of the blade plus the new gen 2 model allows opening and closing with the button now. The button does not work as the detent so no button stick. The gen 2 uses a regular liner lock bar for locking the blade and as the detent. The blade by the way came paper cutting sharp and the grinds are even. It's thin behind the edge and is a flat grind. The sharpening choil is better on the new gen 2 model. Blade is drop shutty and I'm sure is on bearings. There is a matching micarta back spacer at the bottom end of the liners with a pin and cut out for a lanyard. Jimping on the blade is good and ends at the center of the thumb studs. There is a curve in the top of the blade for your thumb for choking up to do push cuts. Overall I love this knife and recommend it. It's a value for what you pay for it and materials you get. You get great micarta scales, 14c28n steel (which is marked on the side of the front flipper), and a unique button locking system. REMETTE is knocking it out of the ballpark. 👍😊
Review: Great one. - This was one of the smaller size knives that really jumped out to me. I tend to like my knives around 8” and 3.5” blade. This Remette really stood out for me. As soon as I got it i fell in love with it. When in my hand it doesn't feel that small. It really lives up to the name Rhino. Built like a tank, very robust. Feels real solid in hand. The Black Micarta is very nice and its already giving off that patina. The texture feels awesome. Great deployment methods, the studs are great, front flipper is awesome and even the fuller is useful. The bottom liner button lock is superb. The action is so snappy really flys out. Did a great job on 14c28n very sharp out of the box. Reverse pocket clip, nice stonewashed blade the black titanium coating is very nice. Very fidgety. Really love this knife.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great knife, NOT the “ordinary” type of button lock
*by W***I on March 12, 2025*

For the price, especially the “on sale” price, this knife ticks a lot of boxes. First there is the locking mechanism, which Remette should really be doing more to emphasize. As of 2025, the vast majority of knives with a “button lock” are using the plunge lock design. I’ll let YouTube explain how that works for those who don’t know - visuals will help. That type of lock is fine - most of the time. They can be tricky to get right though - both in terms of smooth operation and actually locking the knife up securely. And most agree that, even when right, they are on the weaker end of the knife locking design spectrum. Again, they’re fine when they’re done right, but not something for a hard use knife. This knife, though it uses a button, is NOT a plunge lock. This knife is a button actuated top liner lock. I’m going to borrow that term from Vosteed, because it’s basically just descriptive of what it is. This design is similar to Spyderco’s compression lock. It’s “stronger” than a plunge lock, generally smoother to operate, and it actually has a ball detent. Unlike a regular liner lock, you don’t have to put your fingers in the path of the blade to close it, and it’s also considered a stronger overall design there as well. So this knife has a big upgrade in terms of lock design, but they are mostly keeping it a secret for some reason (at least as of this review). The handle material is micarta, which is a nice touch at this price point. It’s not the best micarta, but it’s still an upgrade from what you usually see in this price range. The blade steel is also a great choice in this price range. 14C28N is a very good all arounder type of knife steel. The knife feels very good in the hand, both open and closed. The “swoop” along the spine of the blade works great as place to put your thumb for a more controlled, forward grip (there is no jimping in that area though there is some farther back). There are also multiple ways of deployment here. The knife has excellent thumbstuds - there are a lot companies who could take note of how this done. There is a front flipper, which I’m finally getting the hang of somewhat. You can also use the button itself and little wrist action to fling out the blade. Most interesting are the indentions on each side of the blade, near the thumbstuds. These have a name, but I can’t recall what it is. At any rate, they let you do a middle finger flick if you have that talent. So there are lots of options for how you can open it. So, why did a star get taken off? The biggest reason, and some won’t care, is the blade finish. It’s my least favorite: bead-blasted. The ole Gerber special. I don’t like the way bead-blasted looks, and I especially don’t like that it actually makes any given steel MORE prone to rust. The only saving grace here is that 14C28N is quite resistant to rust otherwise, and should mostly offset that. Still, something to keep an eye on, and a place where a corner was cut. There was also a fit/finish issue on one of the three that I ordered. The primary bevel near the pivot on the show side has a couple of areas where the polisher hit it a little too much. It’s just on the bevel, so it’s not super noticeable, and will go away after the first good sharpening session. The main concern there is whether, in doing this, the steel was heated enough to effect the heat treatment. I doubt it, but it’s not something you want to see. Overall, I really like the knife, and it’s only grown on me since I’ve had it (which is admittedly not very long). I’ve found myself reaching for it more and more. If Remette would change the blade finish to satin or stone-washed they would have an absolute home-run on their hands. As it stands, it’s still a really nice knife for the cost.
