2-3" taller than most 36" kennels
I have 2 dogs that fit comfortably into 36" kennels when lying down. But when standing they are a bit hunched, one from being tall, the other from having pricked ears.It took forever to find a 36" kennel that is just a bit taller so I don't have to have half my bedroom taken up by 42" XL kennels. My girls are both 45-50 lbs. One is 23" at the shoulders, the other 21.5".

23”+ height crate making my furry pal comfortable & happy!
Finally! A smaller sized crate with height! Typical average crate height is 21inches however this one is measured about 23” and although only approximately 2+ inches higher, makes a difference for my furry pal! Only considering factor before buying is the weight. Very heavy crate compared to others I’ve had in the past which make it difficult for travel if ever in the rare case it’s needed. Overall, solid product and would highly recommend, thanks!

Perfect size
As advertised. Arrived in great shape. Amazon drivers were really helpful even though it's tricky to find our home and GPS is inaccurate. They called and perservered. Thank you so much.

The perfect crate
Ordered for my 10 month old Standard Schnauzer and it’s his happy place. Might have to do with the treats he gets for going in it. It is well built with thick wire panels. It’s collapses easily and easy to move. Also love having the 2 door option. Plastic pan is easy to clean. I also purchased a K9 Ballistics Chew Proof Armored Crate Pad which fits this crate nicely. Gives him all the comfort and he has not been able to distroy it so far. Love this crate!

The triple door Ultima Pro series with the hideous hinges has been discontinued. Newer model is double-door, with fixed hinges.
The Ultima part stands for "Ultimate crap." These are the worst dog crates I have ever owned, and I own a bunch. The issue with these crates is the hinge design for the end doors. On a good day, they bind and the door doesn't swing freely. They are also almost always bent when they arrive. Should the crate not be bent beyond use, you can count on the hinges being borked. On a bad day...in other words, eventually, and sooner than later, the hinges will break off.My dogs are easy on their crates. My boy has been in his for almost a year, and the hinges have been weird from the beginning. As noted above, they were bent when the crate arrived. One was not even fully closed. I had to pinch it with pliers. This week, the bottom hinge on the end door he uses snapped off. Midwest is not known for their wonderful customer service, and when I complained previously to them about how they package their crates and they are always bent to hell when I get them, they actually told me that they "NEVER" have had any complaints about bent crates or their packaging before. That's obviously a crock. So I was already dreading fighting them for a warranty replacement for this crate. In the meantime, I ordered a Frisco crate from another online retailer. Unfortunately, the wire gauge is really thin on it, so I was reluctant to use it for my boy. He's the biggest of my dogs, and while he is not a crate destroyer, he is a "violent nester" and gets crazy when he is nesting in his blankets. I was worried it might not stay standing. So, I traded that one out for another Midwest Ultima that I had stored away for one of my other dogs. Brand new. Never used. I set it up last night. Door hinge binding. What a surprise. Tonight, hinge snaps off. That is TWO of these crates that have just fallen apart due to this horrid hinge design.I love everything else about these crates. The wire gauge is heavy duty. The size is great. I love having three doors. If only the doors actually worked and the hinges didn't break off.I have a third one of the Midwest Ultima 48" crates that has managed to hold together. I had to tweak the hinge loops on it to make them work, including a bottom hinge on one of the end door. However, this crate has lasted because I use the side door, which has a different design than the end doors. I fully expect that, should I need to use the end doors ever, they will also break off.I bought a 36" Midwest Life Stages crate for one of my dogs, and it does not have the horror-hinge design. It has two doors, one on side and one on end, and they both work great. Wire gauge is nice and thick, too. As much as it makes me want to gag to think about buying another Midwest product in this lifetime, I may go with a Life Stages crate. If Midwest fixes this horrid hinge design, this would be a fantastic crate.Good luck getting one from Amazon that isn't mangled when it arrives. Be prepared to return it. They will expect you to try to ship it back. You will want to try to preserve the box, if you can. Good luck getting it back in the box. I had better luck with the smaller crate arriving in one piece. It, too, was bent somewhat at one corner, but still useable. My recommendation would be to return it without opening it if the box is the least bit banged up. I have learned this the hard way. Even then, you have a great chance of the crate having broken welds (42" crate came that way), bent panels (4 out of 5 came that way, not all from Amazon), or with bent or open (as in not closed loop) door hinges (4 out of 5). Watch out for that.I am not looking forward to trying to get Midwest to replace both of these crates. The construction is such that you can't just replace the end panels. So, given their reputation for lousy customer service, I will be very surprised if I am able to get a replacement for one of these crate, much less two. Wish me luck. The pictures I included show the broken hinge and pieces, and one picture shows an unbroken hinge, so you can see the difference. Apologies for the poor lighting.Update: I contacted Midwest customer service, and they have been GREAT. When I made my purchase, the model was #748UP, which was the triple door version. Midwest has since discontinued the triple door version. It is now a two-door version with a fixed hinge. Midwest requested proof of purchase and pictures of the issue, which I supplied. Their response has been fast and professional and they have shipped out two brand new replacement crates (new style), under the warranty. I have not received them yet, and hopefully they won't be banged up during shipping. That's the open question at this point. But, very, very pleased with the response from their customer service. I really expected a battle to get them replaced. I was very pleasantly surprised.

Incredible product, but be careful
The media could not be loaded. My male beagle didn’t want to be kenneled - did fine with a plastic kennel but I wanted to give him more space with this model (but I believed this to be the appropriate size for him). He did fine for a while, but today when I got back from work I found a massive puddle of drool and a terrified dog. He must have been chewing on the metal grate, showing his disapproval, and his jaw/teeth got lodged. After trying to free him for a half hour I had to use bolt cutters.I do not consider this to be a product flaw - at all. I would say just consider the size of your dog’s mouth, use zip ties to shrink the space between bars, or make sure you own bolt cutters.Great design, easy to assemble, sturdy, really a truly great product otherwise.

Good quality
The latch on one of the doors is not lined up correctly so it's very difficult to open. We're just using the other door and no issues with that one. Overall the quality is good. Our 10lb mini is happy to sleep in it at night.

Pup likes it
Very durable, but the paint seems to scratch off more easily than I'd like. And the crate is quite heavy! On the plus side, our dog definitely likes this crate much more than his last one.

Quality crate from a great company
Arrived quickly to my door and it was fantastic not to have to do much lifting - I purchased the 42 and it’s over 50 lbs. Minimal packaging which I appreciate. Easy to assemble. I had to laugh a bit that the instructions were sandwiched inside the folded crate and I admit I was initially puzzled how to get it undone, but a quick internet search told me about the clips holding it together and after that, it was easy enough to put it together. The crate is not quite 43” as described everywhere but I had called Midwest and they assured me it was 42 ¾ - I had a tight space to put it in so needed to know.Once I had it together I realized there was a chunk broken on the pan. I used Amazon’s link to reach out to Midwest and they answered me in UNDER 20 MINUTES!! That is downright amazing. I sent a photo and my receipt, they asked me to confirm a few numbers on the crate, and they are shipping me a replacement. This Ultima is replacing a competitor’s crate that was half the price but that my new rescue dog damaged in a few weeks and completely destroyed in 10 months. He was only in it for a few hours every day but is 75 lbs of powerful “don’t you dare leave me and go to the store” strong. The top of the old crate was bending inward and the door had to be secured with multiple clips or he’d break it open. When a few welds broke making it dangerous, it was time to replace. This is the model I chose and while he’s only been using it for a few days I am very pleased with my purchase.A cheaper crate with the same double door feature might work for your dog but not mine. It’s clearly sturdier, the door secures with a latch top and bottom, and the company is amazing to deal with.Midwest does offer the iCrate as an less expensive option and based on my interaction with them, I highly recommend any crate from Midwest.

If you need to buy a very sturdy dog crate, buy this crate. Very well built.

Creates a Safe Place
My 11 year old dog has recently started displaying extreme signs of separation anxiety and we needed to keep both her and our home safe. Because of her current condition, this is the crate recommended by the manufacturer. Unable to compare the different options, I decided to go with their recommendation. It is a very sturdy crate and I love the double door access as it makes it much more convenient to use but I did have some issues setting it up. I found the latches difficult to locate. Once they were found, it was basically a matter of following the instructions. It was a bit awkward due in part to the weight and that it didn't unfold as easily as anticipated possibly because of the construction with the double doors. I have used a similar crate with a single door with no issue but again I really do like having the two doors.
