Infant Optics DXR-8 PRO - Patented Active Noise Reduction (ANR), 5” HD Video Baby Monitor with 1 Camera, No WiFi, Hack-Proof,Pan Tilt Zoom, Interchangeable Lens

This is the best product anyone could buy! I have been using it daily since 2021 and have had 0 issues. The camera moves so smoothly, the image is top notch quality, and the sounds are so clear. The screen is a decent size and you can easily see your baby breathing through it. I can detect the simplest chest movement with its incredible zooming feature. It’s literally the most used product for me in the past 6 years! Also their customer service is phenomenal, back in 2021 my son spilled apple juice on it and I emailed the company and THEY SHIPPED ME ANOTHER ONE FOR FREE without asking any questions!!!! I have seen my friends literally waste money on baby monitors that barely last a year. If you want the best value for your money and longevity of a product then BUY this product now!! It’s super durable and the battery held up for over 5 years of literal daily use. It took over 500 falls over the past couple of years for the screen to finally give up! But sounds still works great.

We held off for years on buying a daily-use video monitor - mostly because of poor reviews from other brands, while still desiring a no-wifi monitor that was HD and well rated. With our third baby due this fall, we were so excited to see the release of the DXR-8 PRO! The big HD screen is exactly what we wanted in a HD no-wifi monitor! We do have an older non-wifi video monitor that we use only in travel situations, while continuing to use an audio-only monitor at home. There are a couple of reasons for why we have stayed audio-only at home, and these are the two items I want to focus my review on why the DXR-8 PRO is an amazing monitor system and has now replaced our need for our audio-only monitor. 1.) Night vision 2.) Active Noise Reduction (ANR) Night Vision Our older travel video monitor system has night vision, but the infrared lights on that monitor were not very high quality. Both of us and our children could actually see a little bit of red glow on that system's infrared LEDs that surround the camera. Might not be a problem for some, but we have trained all our kids to sleep in the pitch dark. Monitors become distractions if they generate too much light. Now, onto the DXR-8 PRO. This unit uses high quality infrared lighting, we couldn't see any glow with our eyes from this unit. Additionally, the green LED light on the front of the camera unit DIMMED to a lower brightness when night mode activated. We were grateful for this feature! On the monitor side, the night vision is very clear. See the attached picture and remember that we keep our rooms PITCH DARK. The camera is able to see our middle child just fine in the crib in a pitch dark room! Active Noise Reduction The other problem we didn't like with our travel video monitor system was it had no "sensitivity" to room noise. This was a feature we really have come to like on our audio only monitor. On the DXR-8 PRO, they added ANR to help with this issue. We have been very impressed so far! The monitor does give a fair warning that it doesn't work that well with SOME sound machines, but it has worked perfectly with ours! We do have the video monitor several feet above the crib on a wall mount, and the sound machine is on the other side of the room. That may help, but regardless - the monitor is not passing the sounds of the sound machine or the house ductwork. While ANR might not be as fancy as our audio-only unit's with sensitivity levels (you can't adjust the cut-in point), it definitely does the job of not bothering us with most of the unnecessary noises, while still cutting in and letting us hear our child's cry's or talking noises. The only super MINOR issues we have with DXR-8 PRO are trivial. The temp gauge on the camera is not accurate (in the picture you see it says 64 degrees, don't worry! Our house is not that cold, the house is much closer to 70 / 71 at the time of the photo). And finally, as I mentioned we keep our rooms PITCH DARK, which includes our room. The lights on the baby monitor are dimmable, and we just flip the monitor face down next to us so any accidental screen activations don't brighten up the whole room, however, the very tiny charging light on the side turns blue when fully charged - and it's a little more light than we'd like to see. I say this is super minor though - if you have ANY tiny bit of light in your room, you won't even see this, but we notice it because our bedroom is 100% pitch dark and this light provides enough light to illuminate some things. We plan on covering it up with a very small piece of electrical tape. If I had but one tiny feature suggestion, it would be a setting to turn off the charging indicator light on the side of the unit. I'm sure it's a nice feature for most people, however, as it allows you to plug in the monitor in a dark room and know that the unit is charging without turning on a bright screen to see the on-screen battery indicator. We would just be turning that light off, if there was a setting for it. All-in-all, we LOVE this unit. This is a camera unit we will be recommending for years to come to anyone who needs a good camera and doesn't want to have any security risks with wifi based cameras.

I absolutely love the Infant Optics DXR-8 PRO baby monitor! It arrived incredibly fast with next-day shipping, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the monitor and camera already pre-paired right out of the box—no frustrating setup required. The 5” HD screen is crystal clear, and the Patented Active Noise Reduction (ANR) technology works amazingly well at filtering out background noise while keeping every little sound from the nursery loud and clear. It’s so intuitive and easy to use that I had it up and running in minutes, making it perfect for busy parents. Highly recommend!

Overall I’ve been really happy with this monitor. The video quality is great and the picture is much clearer than I expected, especially at night. The connection has also been really reliable with good range. I can carry it outside while working in the yard and still keep an eye on the baby without issues, which has been super helpful. My only real complaint is the volume. Even at the higher settings, it doesn’t get quite as loud as I’d personally like. It’s still usable, but if you’re someone who likes the monitor volume really high, that’s something to keep in mind. Other than that, it’s been a great monitor and feels very dependable.

This is the second time we have purchased this camera/monitor combo. After wasting time with other well known brands, I am SO glad we made the switch. It is hands down the best monitor we have used; well worth the money. Battery life is perfect. It’s incredibly easy to set up. The pan and tilt is great for use in larger rooms. We have not had to struggle with any connectivity issues. We had one problem with a static and a disconnection of sound which was quickly resolved with the help of their customer support team (Shout out Gladys!). I cannot recommend this monitor enough. I have 2 little ones and this is the 4th monitor we’ve purchased because the prior ones all had issues within a year. The picture quality is amazing on this, you can easily see movements. It’s easy to use, no setup required except connecting the cameras. The only issue I have had is the battery life reduced at about a year but I reached out to customer service and they sent me a new battery - looking it up on Amazon it’s only about $15-$20 for a new battery so it’s not a large investment needed. I wish I had just gotten this monitor from the beginning, I would’ve saved money overall!

I bought this as an emergency last-minute purchase when my InfantOptics DXR-8 (NOT-pro) finally died after 5 years of abuse (I can't tell you how many times that thing fell on the floor). I was really hating the non-pro version, and upgrading to the Pro, I can honestly say I am so impressed and feel like I have missed out on such a quality baby monitor all this time. The difference between the video quality between the DXR-8 and the Pro is huge. The range is much better, as the (non-pro)DXR-8 had really shoddy connection between opposite corners of my 2500 sqft house if we were relaxing downstairs while kiddo was asleep upstairs. I have not had any connection issues with the Pro in any room in my house. The ANR feature works well on single camera mode, but turns off during scan mode (as intended). This is not a dealbreaker for me anyway. I was relieved that the mounting bracket and wide angle lenses were interchangeable with my old non-Pro version, so I didn't need to buy replacements on those. I also appreciate that there is a physical button for the volume instead of having to open the menu for it. My ONLY complaint is that I do use the monitor to talk to my older kid sometimes, and immediately after speaking on it, there is a couple-second gap of time after releasing the microphone button where the monitor is still muted and I can't hear my kid since he always responds immediately. I'm going to have to teach him to pause before responding so I can hear. I've been using this thing for 3 days now and I can't stop staring at the crystal-clear picture of my baby sleeping so peacefully on this baby monitor <3

I'm very impressed by this baby monitor. 1 - The picture is incredible! Even with the night vision I can see so many details. The screen is quite large so you can see a lot of the room at once. 2 - It has active noise reduction which is great as our camera is close to the Hatch+ which gives constant white noise. My older child talks and sings when he goes to sleep and we could never hear what he was saying because the white noise drowned him out. Now we can actually here him (kids say the cutest things!). 3 - The display includes room temperature AND the time. I totally understand how that should be a small thing but you'd be amazed at how nice it is to be able to see the time when you are checking on things. 4 - The unit comes with a zoom lense, but it can already do a double zoom directly from the monitor. It's as simple as clicking the zoom button, no extra menus or steps and it keeps the detail when you zoom in so you can actually see them breathing, not just a bright spot. I can't comment on the battery yet as I use it mostly plugged in, but I haven't had any issues with it yet and it can always be replaced if it starts to run down over time. The only thing that is a bit of a bummer is that it has a special charging port. It doesn't use a USB C or micro USB so you can't use other plugs to charge it. They do help make that more manageable by including an additional charging cable that plugs into a USB so if you were traveling or wanted to be able to keep it plugged in your room and the living room you could still do that without having to move the charger as well.

Was working fine for the first week, and now the monitor keeps on loosing it's connection to the camera

Monitor is fantastic. Image is clear, range covers the whole house and then some, battery lasts throughout the night with half still remaining in the morning and is user replaceable for when it eventually wears out. Maybe a little bare on features but what's there works perfectly.
