Have a nice day! **Q: Does Windows 8.1 work with this?** A: The adapter works with most windows operating systems. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hasn't dropped out connection like some bigger more expensive brands *by A***Y on 17 December 2018* Gave this to my father as a gift as he uses wifi adapters often on his laptops, he found the design of the product rather nice as he can move the antenna to point out of the path of his hand so its not clashing with the mouse, i asked him to let me know how it compared to his other wifi adapters and he rated this one very highly among them regardless of never hearing the brand name before, other wifi adapters my father has used tend to "drop out" every now and then and makes surfing the internet irritating when it drops whilst loading, however my father found that this wifi adapter has never dropped out on him so far and upon tests, even found that he was getting better speeds then other more expensive/well known brands, because hes used other adapters in the past he also didn't need to load the software to his computer as it shared the same software as one of his previous adapters, making it a brilliabt and easy product for him to use and enjoy ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works on a pc with 802.11n , Faster speeds and better latency on games *by P***E on 26 May 2020* This adapter does the job i am about 15-20 metres away from the main router.When i first got this i checked my speed on 5Ghz on my computer which only supports802.11n and speed was around 30mbps (pics also provided). I then connected this adapterwhich is 802.11ac and the speed i was getting was unbelievable at first however then i bridgeconnect my to the PS4 which only supports 2Ghz and i was getting over 100mbps.My latency on COD was around 30-40 ms before it was 80-160ms. Also i have no problem streaming etc.Note: PC is placed in a dead-spot hard for signalI used a 1m cable and got the adapter away from the PC out the dead-spotand then i was achieving signal strength around 80 - 95% ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Adapter, Poor Instructions *by R***N on 23 June 2019* This adapter works well but setup was difficult, not helped by instructions that are confusing and incomplete.For Windows OS, the instructions state that the adapter should be plugged in before the software is installed. They then state that, once the software has been installed, the adapter should be plugged in – but it’s already been plugged in if you were following the instructions! From previous experience I know that the software should be installed before plugging in any USB device, and there is a “tip” on the Amazon webpage for this item confirming that the software should be installed before connecting the adapter. But the instructions state that the adapter should be connected first, which is unhelpful.This adapter was bought to use with an ex-corporate HP Core i5 PC running a fully updated Windows 7 Pro OS. The PC has both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 sockets on the rear panel. After installing the adapter via the USB 3.0 socket it initially seemed to work well, but when I restarted my PC the next day the adapter wasn’t recognised by the PC. After wasting an hour or so trying to get the PC to recognise the adapter I discovered that the solution was to connect it via a USB 2.0 socket. I wasn’t aware of the problems that can occur when a USB 3.0 device is attached to Windows 7 PC/laptop. The adapter is now working very well and the connection is as fast (55-60 Mbps) as by Ethernet cable.
