This is exactly what it claims, a bubble clay mask. When opening the product there is a little spatula that comes with the mask. It was a little difficult for me to apply the product with the spatula, so in the future I will probably use a mask brush when applying. I made the mistake of putting on a thick layer, which I believe you only need a thin layer for this product to work or the removal will be a little time consuming. When it is first applied it appears to look like a clay mask. As you let it sit, it begins to foam and bubble up, which is super fun to watch. It does tickle a little bit while it is foaming, but nothing that would make me want to wash it off. I believe I left mine on for about five minutes. The directions say 3-5 but you could leave it on longer and it would be okay. This part threw me off a bit, but it wasn't a bad thing: I figured since it bubbled up and turned into foam, that it would remove like a foaming cleanser. I was wrong! You are supposed to manipulate the mask a bit after you let it foam up, and to my surprise it was still clay like under all of the bubbles. Once you manipulate and massage the mask the foam dissolves and you are back to your clay mask. This is where it gets to be a little annoying if you gobbed the mask on like I did. If you accidentally put on too much, I would suggest removing with a damp, hot towel. If you put on a thinner amount, you should be okay removing it with either a cotton pad or just water and your hands. My skin felt soooooo soft and looked brighter after using this mask. The next morning I noticed that a spot I have healing had decreased in redness by 50% - I'm not sure if it was this mask, or a combination of my skincare routine, but I am so satisfied.
