Lethal Weapon: The Complete Second Season

The season was great, but will ultimately be the end of the show
Most people who are fans of the show know that the friction (to put it mildly) between Wayans and Crawford led to Crawford being fired and Riggs being written off the show. I will not spoil how the season ends, but needless to say, the season ends on a very big cliffhanger.Much of the season is devoted to Rigg's past, specifically, at the hands of his abusive father. There are a lot of flashbacks throughout the season. Riggs still has guilt issues over the death of his wife, but the storyline that ended the first season (with Rigg's going to Mexico to get revenge) is resolved pretty much in the first episode. Two of Riggs' friends from his youth are brought into the story this season, one of which becomes a new love interest. I will not go into details to spoil anything for those who have not watched, but it basically follows the same formula as a weekly procedural that deals with the case-of-the-week, with a larger story arc that spans the course of the season. For those who get the blu-rays, these are MOD discs. They do allow for a play all mode that allows you to pick up where you left off, which is better than the "regular" blu-ray sets for the other WB shows. The only extras are deleted scenes for select episodes. There are no commentary tracks on any episodes or behind the scenes or making of featurettes, most likely due to the on-set tension that occurred over the course of the season. You could tell that by the end of the season Crawford and Wayans were being kept away from each other as much as possible while filming, and it seemed like every effort was being made to have them in as few scenes as possible together. Even so, they managed to maintain their on-screen chemistry. You really could not tell that they were (reportedly) screaming at each other up to the point "action" was called on set.It is unfortunate that it was a great show, with the two iconic movie characters cast perfectly. Like the first season, it managed to pay homage to the movie franchise and characters, without being a carbon copy. Whether it is good or bad going forward into season 3, it will not be the same without the character of Riggs. Chances are it will not survive after season 3, which is a shame because it was really a show that could have had a good 5-6 season (or more) run in it.

Great Show, But No Bonus Content Whatsoever
As I had already seen all the episodes, I bought season 2 hoping for some enjoyable bonus content. It turns out there is none. Just some deleted scenes. No behind-the-scenes, commentary, or anything. One almost gets the impression that Fox released this simply as an obligation after all the drama and subsequent firing of lead actor Clayne Crawford.Who suffers for it? The fans of this show. I now consider this the second half of "the complete series" as do a lot of Crawford fans.Be that as it may, this season may have been a little more lackluster than the first due to all of that, but it's still a great watch. Each episode feels like a mini-movie with very good production and top-notch acting. So if you haven't seen it, you won't regret buying it. If you have, or you have it on dvr and are simply a fellow bonus feature junkie, it's a hard pass.

Questionable Quality of Product Packaging
This review is on the quality of the product packaging and not on the quality of the series. Especially for those who are purchasing this as a gift and might be concerned with the packaging of the product this review might provide you with something to think about. I purchased the blu ray version. First, the paper and print quality of the blu ray cover is poor. The print is washed out, faded and yellowish. It seems that such a print was made on poor quality printers or that it lacks quality control. Second, except for disc one being secured the other three discs were slotted and squeezed into a small sized paper disc envelop pocket. Is this a case of cost cutting? Compared to the packaging of Season One, this one is far off the mark. It also makes extracting and placement of the discs difficult as well as the longevity of the paper disc pocket questionable.

Defective product
Disk 2 of this season was defective and Amazon offered to replace this with another item of my choosing, but did not offer to replace it with the item I purchased.

Naja
Die 1. Staffel war super, leider ließ die 2.Staffel etwas nach. Und daß Riggs erschossen wird, geht garnicht. Für mich besteht diese Serie aus diesem Team und ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob ich die 3. Staffel noch sehen will.
