I have ordered multiple sets of “Mexican Train” over the years, as well as various extra components (trays, etc.) in an effort to compile a nice set that would last a lifetime of use with lots of friends, kids, and grandkids. Let’s begin with the container that actually holds the set. Weird as it may seem (at least it did to my husband), I really wanted a box or storage container that actually stated what the contents of said container was. I am an avid “labeler”, but I wanted a set that actually “came” with the name of the game imprinted on it. My reasoning for this was that if someone were to ever come across this game on the shelf, and had never actually played “Mexican Train” or perhaps never even heard of it (for example as was the case with one of my son-in-laws), they would be able to immediately identify it as an actual game. (Rather than simply a random box of dominos.) I mean, dominos are great! But. This is an entire game that happens to use dominos as one of its components. That distinction was important to me. This game is fun for the whole family, and for all ages. The box has more than adequate storage capacity and is very sturdy. Not just a cheap-o box. Very impressed with the packing, as well. (Both inside and out) which ensured that it would arrive in great condition. And we discovered an added bonus! We had no idea that the dominos which came with our other sets were actually thin and not of good quality until we saw and compared the difference! The dominos in this set are double the thickness of those in several other sets we had! The instructions which are included are easy to read and understand, and the entire set is simply above and beyond what we were expecting. If I could rate it higher than five stars, I would!

**Q: What size are the tiles?**
A: They are the regular domino size. About 1-3/16" long by 9/16" wide by 3/16"

**Q: is this a fun game for only two players**
A: Yes it's fun with 2 players. We like to remove some of the larger tiles. 12's 11's10's or more. We have played with 7's and lower it's still fun and things move along better

**Q: Do you think a 5 year old would enjoy this? He is currently playing chess.**
A: If he is already playing chess, then definitely. This requires far less strategy than chess. It is just low key and fun.

**Q: How is this different from regular dominoes? I haven't played much, but my husband used to like dominoes. I'm wondering how different it is?**
A: In this game all players form different "trains" plus you form an extra train called the Mexican train on which you can place dominoes.  So you have more options for playing your dominoes.  There are different sets of rules,  but we soon settled on the rules we liked best.  To me it is more interesting and more fun!

Funny family game and this particular set is very nice from top to bottom. You will find a lot of sets with dominos so thin that they will not stand up without a tray, these are not. Solid dominos, sturdy box, metal trains, a nice wooden centerpiece, and even a easy to use pad of score cards. Whither you are already addicted to Mexican Train and need (want) a new set or just looking for a new fun game to play with family and friends you can not go wrong with this set.
