I'm confused.  This says it is a sealer, but someone asked if it prevented mold & you said doubtful?

It's a waterproof grout colorant which, by definition, affords some degree of "sealing". As for preventing mold, surely that would require some sort of chemical content? Not sure what one can use to prevent mold on an ongoing basis except, perhaps for regular wipe downs with vinegar and water or other cleaning product.

Can it be used on swimming pool grout?

Accepted Answer

Yes GROUT PEN can be used around the pool. Be sure to check and see if the pool has grout or mortar/concrete.  GROUT PEN will work on both but on mortar/concrete the coverage will be much less due to the rough and porous nature of mortar/concrete.

CAP COLOR: Use the color chart (see images) for most accurate color depiction. Pen cap represents each pen's color but is not expected to be the exact shade, do a small test area first
SEALED GROUT: Grout Pen may not bond to recently sealed grout. Test the grout with a few drops of water. If the grout does not absorb the water within a few minutes then the grout was likely sealed
TIP MAY WEAR DOWN: Tip is made of cotton, pressing too hard will damage tip. Contact seller for replacement tips if needed
SHAKE ONLY WITH CAP ON: Tip is removable and may fall out if shaken hard, only shake pen with cap on (note - Pen does not need to be shaken at all, instead gently pump tip to activate)
DRY TIP: Pen needs to be primed before use, all new Grout Pens come with a dry white tip. To activate gently pump the tip (20-30 times) until fully saturated

Honestly it varies as grouts vary in their porosity and whether it has been treated or not.  The manufacturer states the 15mm pen will do up to 40 linear meters.
