Design Engineering 050131 Boom Mat Black Sound Deadening Headliner Compatible with 4-Door Jeep Wrangler (2007-2010)

Easy install, great adhesion, dampens the road noise and keeps the cabin temperature cool/heated consistently well. I have a 2010 Wrangler 4dr., and this is one of the best upgrades you can do to your ride. Other raters indicate you have to remove the hard top, not true, just remove the center sound bar and it will fit like a glove.

I believe it prevents, or inhibits the transfer of temperature. I was leery when I pulled it out of the box wondering why couldn't I have just cut my own high density foam and save the money??? The foam I was going to choose was $100 a sheet. My time cutting it is worth more than the $100 difference! Prior to installing it in my 4-door Rubicon, the interior temps would be in excess of 130 degrees on an extremely hot day and wouldn't cool off for miles. When I would arrive home, the roof would still be extremely hot to the touch. Though it was later in the season when I installed it and the daytime temps were running a bit cooler, it seemed that the interior temps were running close to 15 degrees cooler when I opened the jeep after work. I wrote this off to the cooler days though they were running in the 90's. During intallation I was pressing it with my hands, I felt it getting warm almost immediately. I thought it was my imagination or maybe the sun. I just blew it off and was happy with the looks, and besides, it couldn't hurt with the road noise. Well now it's getting cold and dropping below freezing. In the morning when I get in I will put the back of my hand on the liner and you can feel it warm up and hold the heat immediately! Move your hand to another part and it will do the same, while the rest of the interior is cold. Just a few miles down the road, the roof (liner) is warm just from the defroster! If you install it in a 4-door, GET AN EXTRA SET OF HANDS TO HELP, you will need them!

Update: This insulation works so well that I installed it in my second JK. However, based on my experience with the first install (below) I recommend using 3M 77 Super Adhesive spray https://www.amazon.com/3M-Super-Multi-Purpose-Adhesive-Aerosol/ on the surfaces before installing the insulation, because I found that the factory peel-and-stick adhesive began to fail in the extreme heat of a southern summer. Using the 3M product solved the problem. Original Post - This insulation is nearly 1" thick and effectively eliminates the heat radiating from the top here in the deep south. Before installing it A/C had to be on high and heat still radiated from the top on your head. After installation, A/C can now run on low all day. Pros * cutouts accurately conform to the roof contours and installation is easy. * the package contains filler strips for the contours of the top, so the main mat will install smooth and not contoured. Minor gripe - the front sunroof pieces have cutouts for some of the rotating locks and not others. While this doesn't impair their operation (rotation), it's inconsistent to provide cutouts for some and not others. Note that the top must be removed to install the center panel, as the insulation extends between the top and sound bar. It is impossible to slide the mat into this confined space when the adhesive backing is exposed. It's also VERY IMPORTANT to position the mat correctly before allowing it to touch the surface because the adhesive is very aggressive, like duct tape, in grabbing and holding. Once it grabs, it's there. It's a recent install, so no data on long term performance of the adhesive in the heat. I'll update if it fails.

I was able to install the two rear pieces without removing the top. They fit great and should work to insulate from heat and cold. Sound deadening also.

The headliner cuts down on noise/echos dramatically. I only have to turn the stock radio to 10 or so to listen now. Before the headliner it was at least 18-20. My kids can talk to us from the back seat without yelling. On chilly days we don't need to use heat after a few minutes because our body heat keeps the cab warm. The ac works better in the desert heat too. Installation was a bit time consuming because of the dozens of little foam strips of different sizes to fill the corrugations in the roof. Once those were all sorted out it didn't take long to get everything installed.

This did not fit my 2010 Jk 4 door wrangler and I was not willing to cut on it like other customers stated they had to do for install. That is ridiculous to have to do. I am hoping it was a one off mistake and will try ordering again. If it is wrong again, I will call the company.

This product was just as described. I just installed this on my 2010 JK Rubicon and it does make a difference with the sound. The installation was very easy the hardest part was turning over the extremely heavy top. The instructions were clear and written well though this install is pretty straight forward. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend this to anyone.

I want to give this a 5 star but a few little things are preventing me from doing so. First the box came all beat up. (I know, it’s most likely from the mail carrier, not them) second the 2 bigger pieces were folded so there was a crease In The middle. But I was able to get it out with some bending and such. Then I was 2 or 3 strips short for the little foam strips that you put down before the bigger pieces. So we’ll see how that goes...the I structions we’re pretty basic and not very helpful. The video online was a little more helpful. Overall this looks cool but I do have some worries about how well the adhesive will hold up. Only time will tell. I’ll defiantly keep this up to date as we enter summer here soon.

Un indispensable para cualquier jeep wrangler, son caros a comparacion de otros como dd gele/algodon pero estos lucen mil veces mejor, y ademas dd brinda proteccion termica y acuatica mejora mucho la estetitca del interior.

Headliner is easy to install but need 2 people to do it. Not only is it sound deadening, it also provides some insulation from the heat in summer and cold in winter.

Easy to install, perfectly designed and works better than expected.
