I only use plastic implements and even then gently . . . and wash them carefully . . . and use "blue" paper towels inside to protect the non-stick. Watch your fire ! ! You can easily over heat these. It really doesn't take much to cook with. They DON'T work on induction stoves - they're aluminum. NOTE: The handle may be difficult to insert at first. After inserting the handle, gently squeeze it closed a few times and it will "shape" the receiver on the pan to fit the handle much better. If you are cooking for a family these can do it, you just have to be wise in how you prepare your food so that you can utilize all the pots. Keep in mind that the pans double as tops to the pots so if you have to boil water and need to top, you'll loose a pan. I used these both as pans and pots. I was able to boil water and fill my water bladder using the large pot. Does it chip/fade?** A: We have had ours for two years now and used them more than 30 times. The finish appears the same. I couldn't tell if it has faded at all but does not appear to have. Used exclusively for outdoor camping, we have been satisfied even if the color would have faded but there has been no chipping on our gear. **Q: How much does the set weigh - apart from the packaging ?** A: I have never weighed the set, but the set is very light. If I had to guess, approximately 2 pounds. **Q: can i use these in a induction cooktop?** A: NO ! Induction stoves require iron content for the magnetic field to act on. These are aluminum. You can get a iron disc to put on the induction stove to provide the heat. **Q: Has anyone tried a different pot holder to use on the set? If so, which worked?** A: I haven't tried any other pot holder to use on the set. However, I'm sure if you look around on the web you'll be able to find something that will work. When needing more than one handle at a time, I have used "hot dog" flippers on each side. Very inexpensive and does the job. There are both more and larger sized pots/pans in this Kangaroo Cookset, yet it still nested into a very compact bundle. Worked better for us, with such little pots/pans we typically need more than only one or two in use for each meal which may be something to consider if you are not traveling solo or deuce. Was concerned about the single, detachable handle and agree the set would benefit greatly from a second handle. Also it is true, a single handle can be rather inconvenient when there are multiple pots working particularly with the lids on. Still, the set did everything and more than we threw at it and we were very happy to have the additional pots/pans/lids. The lids double as frying pans, something the other set didn't have, and the non-stick surfaces clean up super easy.
