Learning kit
My 8 year old son wanted to start learning how to care for animals so I bought him these to start off with. Very easy to care for. We received obviously the instructions but also the water purifer packet, food, and eggs. We had fun watching them grow however they don't last long. They live 3 weeks tops for us.

Great product
I bought my daughter a sea monkey kit and did everything it said. None survived. So I just bought the eggs. Well they worked much better. 5 survived and they made babies. It was a great experience.

A major bummer, and I can't blame user error.
These are so disappointing! As a kid I had about 4 full sets at a time with the aquariums and all the toys, and they thrived for years. It's now 35 years later and I figured, hey it was fun then, let's try now- if I could be so successful as a 12 year old, I could at least have one tank work out now, right? This is my second set in 2 months, and I have a total of ZERO sea monkeys! The first batch I had ONE that made it to be an adult female with an egg sac and everything. (So see, I didn't mess it up totally). Then I started a new colony in another tank because eventually I wanted to give her some playmates, but after a month, I have none. Even the female from the original batch died. This is crazy. Both tanks hatched successfully with lots of little "specks" that are the baby sea monkeys, and I fed them exactly on time, and now I have none at all. None of the sea monkeys from the second batch even made it to adulthood. Their water wasn't yucky, they weren't placed in full sun, they were fed on time, kept at even temperature, all the things they say to do were done. The major difference I can think of is that nowadays I see the food is more a pale yellow color. "Back in the day" it was a deep green and looked like dried algae. Now it looks really pale, and both food packets from the 2 sets had the same color food, so I assume that's the way they make it now. But the results sure are disappointing. I bought the sets 4 months apart (but set them up a month apart) so I doubt it would be the same batch of food, but who knows.Maybe I'll try spring water. "Back in the day" I used well water from our PA farm. Now I live near SF in CA and maybe the 24 hours they say to let your water sit with conditioner in it just doesn't work. Maybe I'll try bottled water with the conditioner.Overall though, I'm bummed, and I would think that I have some major experience with these little guys and I can't get them to work nowadays, so I think the quality has gone down over the decades.(That being said, I think they were first marketed in 1957. If their viability is crummy today, and 30 years ago they were really good, then in 1957 they must have been AMAZING!)

Delightful!
I got this for my kids at the beginning of quarantine. It took some time for them to grow but now the sea monkeys are a hit. We used a large washed out peanutbutter jar, much larger than the 10 oz. We put the purifier in the full jar let it sit for a day. Then we added the eggs 24 hours after. They took around 3-4 days to hatch. I feed them once every other day. I always have 1 or 2 pregnant ones out of about a dozen adults that we have. Im thinking of moving them over to a large fish bowl in hopes the population will grow. My sea monkeys as a kid where never as cool because we used the very small container provided. I feel like it was always dirty. But the larger jar seems to be the way to go and half the price to get started. Happy I got them for my kids!

I LOVE THESE GUYS!!
I have had no luck at all with the full kits with the tanks included, I tried 3 separate times and all three times ended in failure, once it got knocked off the counter, once I have baby monkeys and the temps dropped drastically and they froze to death, and the last time.... They just never hatched.I had almost given up.I thought maybe the TANK is the problem for me, I do find it rather ugly, and it's shape lends to accidents waiting to happen, wide and thin and tall, like a domino. And the color schemes aren't very "grown up" neon green, baby blue, pink?! So I bought a small Lee's Betta Hex Keeper, it holds 24 ounces of water. I then ordered two packets of sea-monkeys, each packet needs 10 ounces to work. I followed the directions, using 20 ounces in the betta keeper and leaving the gravel out (the monkeys might get stuck or crushed in the gravel).4 days later I have a populations EXPLOSION!!! I have so many monkeys I can't even COUNT them!!I highly suggest if you don't like the look of the sea-monkeys tanks, don't get discouraged, try something else, there's a TON of "betta tanks" here on amazon that would work fantastically for sea-monkeys! All you have to do is be sure to measure how much water you are putting in it. And use distilled water, it works 1000x better.

Easy to follow instructions -- Low maintenance pets!
Sea Monkeys are a hybrid type of brine shrimp. This kit comes with all the supplies to set up your own tank in a container of your choosing. It has a packet of water purifier, a packet of eggs, a packet of food (plus a feeding spoon), and instructions. You'll need to supply your own container -- I used a pint jar. It's really exciting to add the eggs, see the babies, and then watch them grow full size.

Don’t throw out the water, don’t give up!
The media could not be loaded. I originally gave a bad review after doing absolutely everything correct according to the package. After almost 2 weeks of putting the eggs in the water I assumed I had a dud package of eggs and they weren’t going to hatch and had 2 very disappointed kids. Well 3 weeks later I’m washing the dishes and noticed movement in the little tank! THEIR ALIVE!!! I threw out the food cause I assumed it was just garbage. So note to anyone who gets these! Don’t give up. Don’t throw out the water after a week.It took 3 weeks for mine to hatch. And they are thriving! Placed another order for food.
