These Help
These clip on to a regular pool but I don't have a regular metal sided pool. My pool is a 2 x 10 wood sided pool and when the wind kicked up these blew off. But I wasn't able to find anything that worked due to the type of pool I have. I'm guessing these would work good on a regular pool; but they do get stretched out with use so they're probably only good for a year or two of use.

Cover Clips Save Time and Frustration
UPDATED AGAIN 3/16/2016: Sadly, I cannot recommend these clips anymore. Over the course of the past few months nearly half of our clips have detached from the pool. Simply put, the clips lose their strength in time and once snow and rain accumulate onto your pool cover, the clips can't handle the pressure and detach. I've read other reviews where someone added some adhesive inside of the clips. While this may help, I'm of the belief that I ordered these clips to do the job they were advertised to do so I shouldn't have to do something to improve them right out of the box. In addition, because the pool cover came loose, the increasing pressure of the snow sunk lower into the pool and caused the pool liner to break free from the edge of the pool in a couple of places. While the liner may simply have been coming loose over the years of use, some of the blame has to go to the inability of these clips to hold the winter cover in place. In eight years, we've never had any trouble with our winter cover coming loose until now.In summary, if you can afford to purchase new clips each year - we used three clips between each set of posts - then by all means, the clips are wonderful. But somewhere during the second year of use in a Wisconsin winter, they simply failed to hold anything anymore. I will add this though, if you simply use the clips to quickly attach your winter cover to your pool once you have the pool free of leaves, they work great. From there, I strongly recommend using the trusted cable and ratchet system threaded through the winter cover eyelets to secure your cover for the duration of the winter. If used as a quick cover, I think they'll work fine. And if you're anything like we are, trying to get a few people to hold the pool cover in place while you thread the cable is a little difficult. So using the clips to secure the cover takes all of a few minutes. From there, you only need one person to thread and secure the cable.Rating decreased to two stars.UPDATED 11/13/2015: Starting our second Wisconsin winter with the same set of clips. They did a magnificent job through the first winter, but I have to say that over time they seem to lose their hold a bit. We put them on this year and noticed that they don't hold as snugly as they did the first year. However, they can still be used without too much trouble. After several days of 50 to 70 MPH gusts over the past month, I haven't noticed any clips that have fallen off completely. There were a few lose ones that I had to go out and snap back into place. But strong winds will loosen almost anything other than the standard cable. After everything, it seems that these should do the trick again without too much trouble. Lowering my rating to four stars though as they have loosened their grip just a bit.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I will update this review after completion of the first Wisconsin winter with the clips, but right now these are getting five stars. If you've ever used the red cable with the tightener going through the grommets in the winter cover, you'll know how tedious it is to apply and to take off in the spring. I can't begin to share my happiness with these clips. We used to hate, and I mean hate, having to put the winter cover on each year. But this year with the clips, we had the cover on in less than five minutes. It was literally a snap of each clip and we were done. We purchased two 30-packs and used nearly all of them on a 21' diameter pool, and they are holding nicely with snow and ice on the cover. Only once since we put them on did I walk around and check them to make sure they weren't slipping off. A few of them were, but we had some strong winds for a couple of days. In all, they go on quickly and easily, and they seem to be holding just fine and we're nearly through December. In the spring when I take them off and open the pool, I'll update this review to let you know how they lasted through the winter. I suspect they'll be fine the first year, but eventually Wisconsin winters will take their toll on the clips just like everything else. I figure if I can get a few years out of them, it's a good investment as the cable system didn't seem to last more than four to five years either. And the time saved is worth the price!

Buy these!!!
I have to say I was a little hesitant on buying these. But after seeing them on my friends pool I thought I would give them a try. Holy crap!!! These are GREAT!! I live in Illinois where the weather is always changing. It was crazy windy here yesterday my cover was blowing like crazy. I put these on and everything stopped!! I wish I knew about these sooner. Have to say this has to be one of the BEST purchases I have made from Amazon!!

This is the first season we used these.
I have to say these are the easiest things to install and they are so much better than the crazy wire that holds your pool cover on. These things just snap in place and it made it so much easier to secure the pool cover.

Disappointed
I was disappointed with this product. I had hoped it would be the solution to our problem, but it was not. To be fair, the issue may well be our pool and not the product, but I don't know. The previous owner built the deck too close to the pool, so we can't use the cable and winch on the cover because there's not room to get the cable under the lip, so the cover always wants to gap away from the edge by the deck. We've tried milk jugs, but the weight only breaks the grommets and tears the cover. When I saw these clips and the great reviews saying they held through high winds and even through hurricane Sandy, I was excited. It's very windy here, and that's our main challenge. I even put rubber dish grippers under the clips for better holding power without slipping, as suggested by another reviewer. Unfortunately, the wind still seems to flap the cover and pop the clips off (of course, letting any dirty puddled water and leaves right down into the pool). From the great reviews, I had really hoped this would be our solution, but it doesn't seem to be. Again, perhaps the clips would hold better if we could get them the whole way around the poolโbut then, so would the cable that comes with the cover and we wouldn't have needed to try the clips to begin with...I hope to make it through this winter with a combination of milk jugs and these clips, because I really do like that they don't ruin the grommets. We'll see how it goes. And PSโthe product calls for two clips per section of pool. I'm currently using three per section, hoping that'll increase the gripping power and better our chances of success.

Pool Cover Grips
I found these on line when looking for a new pool cover and thought they would be a lot better than our usual routine of tying the pool cover down and using tent pegs into the ground. I found they worked really well. They were a little hard to open enough and get onto the edge of the pool but the more we did the easier it got. They are strong. I have an 18 foot round pool, half of which is surronded by a deck. I recommend using at least 4 grips per section for security and strength. They look a lot better than the tent pegs. The quality is good but I think they are somewhat expensive at $32+ given they are just a strip of plastic cut into lengths. I think $10 is more than enough to charge but alas, the price was not mine to make and I trust I will get a few years use out of them so am happy enough with my purchase.

They are whey too expensive for what you are getting
They are asking whey too much money for what you get. They are just cheap Pieces of plastic and they do do fit all above ground pools, mine being one of them. Our pool has a plastic top rail because it was designed as a salt water pool and the lip of the rail is bigger and the clips will not fit. They might on a steel top rail, but I don't know for sure. I ended up improvising. I wrapped the pool cover around the tensioning cable and then slipped the plastic cable over it. I won't know for sure how it works until we get some high winds.

I bought these cover clips to keep my the winter cover on my 30 foot above ground winter pool cover from blowing around in the wind. Strong winds coming through my yard were causing my cover to blow upwards and flap like crazy, putting a lot of strain on the material. From the information I read about them, I thought they would pretty much eliminate the problem. When they arrived, I went out and put them on immediately as it was a another windy day. While they did snug the top of the cover down far more than it had been, they didn't really stop the billowing/flapping problem much. It turns out that I needed something weighted to pull the cover down the side walls of the pool to really make a difference. I ended up putting a pool pillow in the middle with some free-standing water and water bags on top of the cover. That, together with the clips, has been way more effective in dealing with the problem. The clips do help to limit the problem , so they're not a bad idea.

Clips work great. Saves a ton of time over feeding a tiny wire in broken tarp loops. The hold of these clips is amazing. High winds haven't even budged the tarp with these on. We'll see how long they hold up over the seasons though. The only negative is that they are a bit tight to slip on the pool edges. With a little work, they go on easy and hold tight.
