Well thought out, well made and VFM
This is a great tent, very well designed, fast to erect, excellent in the hot weather with excellent ventilation and excellent fly screens. Windows make it full of light and curtains give full privacy when required. Perfect for a couple who want space luxury and standing headroom. Very good value for money.

Its a good size for a family of 4
I've only just received the tent tonight. Arrived 1 day early - go figure. It took me less than 15 mins to erect for the first attempt, I think 8 mins is doable including the pitching time. I didn't realise from the description the groundsheet linked and not fully sewn in. On the plus side it means we can fold back part of the groundsheet and run inside when it rains, take off our shoes out of the rain and step on the inner tent. Its a good size for a family of 4. We haven't camped in it yet. It looks to be of a similar quality to my old Voyager 6 tent, the only difference was that had poles which split in windy weather. The airbeams look good to me. No hassle camping, I can't wait for our first weekend away.

It leaks
This was our 3rd Vango tent and it is by far the easiest to put up, but our tent had a serious flaw. Pros 1. Easy to put up, the air-beam approach is fantastic, compared to poles. 2. Simple but adequate spatial design. 3. Good ventilation Cons 1. Roomy for two, OK for three. Five would be a struggle. 2. It leaks, big-time. The first time it rained, water pooled at the base of the front air beam, and it dripped constantly from the central tension straps adjacent to the beam. As we were in Wales, it rained a fair amount and a bowl had to be left in a fairly central location in the tent to contain the puddle throughout the holiday. I tried some ‘seam-sealer’ but it made little difference. Essentially our tent was not really fit for purpose. I have asked Amazon for a refund. Disappointing as our other Vango tents have been faultless. Hopefully this is a one off, and not a design problem.

Second purchase.
I had a camper van with a Vango airstream awning. I sold the camper and ordered a Vango airstream tent which I now use with the awning. I have a huge living space for my wife, my three dogs and myself. A great product. So quick to erect and the delivery was so quick too.

Some Minor Quality Issues
First of all I ended up sending the tent back as the one we got wasnt up to the standard I would expect, however I would agree with the professional reviews on this tent, in that its pretty good overall. We pitched the tent in the dry, I put it up and took it down by myself, it went up in good weather and was really easy, I packed it away during a small gale and again it was pretty easy. At the end of the day the £500 price tag is there because of the airbeam technology, its certainly nothing else. Other reviewers have mentioned how good the waterproofing is, and I would agree, we had 2 nights of heavy rain, and it stood up well, but its a £500 tent!, I would expect it to do well. So if put a premium on speed and doing it with 1 person then this tent is probably a good idea, it took me (after 1 practice run in the garden) 10 mins to get the tent up and pegged down (the tent didnt come with enough pegs!). Taking down is more of a skill, as the air inlet/outlet valves are midway up one side of the tent, which means when you release the air and begin to roll up the tent you need to keep releasing the air you have compressed down. You can use the pump to remove the air but in bad weather you just want to get low and get it done. So as you fold the tent towards the valves you realise that the last fold hides access to the valves and I couldnt quite get all the air out. It still went back in the bag easily enough but it was V frustrating. If Vango have another go, please think about put the valves lower down at the feet. The Odyssey is reasonably roomy, its probably not a 5 person as advertised (unless your V close), but 'person' numbers for tents have been an in-house joke for years, and everyone now just goes for the next size up; we had 2 people and 2 dogs and it was fine. As I said early its certainly waterproof, it also took a reasonable hammering during a sea gale, given there are no poles we were a little nervous about the rigidity but it took it well. We did note lots of small holes in the ground sheet. It just looked cheap and felt flimsy, but it didnt leak either. I am not sure it would have held up well to waterlogged ground or how it would do after a lot of rain, but for us it did ok. The main reason we sent this back was one of the internal doors had de-lamination along one side, probably just a 1 off, but with everything else, it took the shine off a V expensive and well researched buy. Finally other niggles - the main door is really good, it is easy to open and close and doesnt snag that often, it has a insect net and is big enough to comfortable get in and out off. Then there is another side door, for some reason this doesnt have an insect net. I cannot understand why at £500 it didnt, but the air flow through the tent, in warm weather, is really poor and you end up having to open both doors, which means lots of insects. In addition there are 2 air vents, one on the top of main door (fair enough) then the other happens to be a couple of feet away below one of the PVC windows. Absolutely no use; the air does flow doesnt move over the main living area and it gets V hot and stuffy, I would have thought a top vent behind the bedroom would have been better. Overall (and I know there appears to be a lot of negative here) this is a pretty good tent, I would say without the airbeam technology it sits in the £350-400 bracket and if they sorted out the insect door net and air flow this would be a really good tent. I am disappointed as other reviews were really good, I wanted this new technology to be great and therefore I had pegged my hopes on this being 'the tent', so I am probsbly being a little to negative given the above. So if you want a tent that stands up to the weather (from our short trial), it pretty roomy and is easy to put up then this is a good option to go for. I have had Vango before and would again, the de-lamination, ground sheet holes (some fraying of sown seams and too few tents pegs) is a quality checking issue, but with complex mass produced items this is bound to happen, and it is likely we just got a one off. If it had just been the de-lamination of one door, I would have requested an exchange, but everything together (in one ~20kg package) was enough just to send it back and start looking again.

Light but sturdy
It’s tall enough to stand in, it’s easy to carry ( no poles!). Looks good and feels strong (eg zips) . Very nice, if a little pricey.

Absolutely brilliant
I absolutely love this tent. I've used it three times so far and even when it was windy I was able to put it up on my own. It takes longer to peg out the guy ropes than it does to get the tent up. It takes slightly longer to put it down again, but not much. Just have to make sure that all of the air is out of the beams otherwise it won't fold up properly, but that's pretty obvious anyway. May son has also borrowed it for his family holiday and he is going to buy one as well. Size perfect for one to four people but although it could be done, it would be a squeeze sleeping five. I would certainly recommend this tent.

veloce, comoda ma troppo calda
Tenda apparentemente di buona fattura, bella esteticamente con materiali in linea al pezzo di acquisto. Facilità e velocità di montaggio ottimi pronta all'uso in 12 minuti cronometrati.

Zelt Air - top Empfehlung
