Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw . Twenty years ago these magical words and many more flowed from a young writer's pen, an orphan called Harry Potter was freed from the cupboard under the stairs - and a global phenomenon started. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone has been read and loved by every new generation since. To mark the 20th anniversary of first publication, Bloomsbury has published four House Editions of J.K. Rowling's modern classic. These stunning editions each feature the individual house crest on the jacket and line illustrations exclusive to that house, by Kate Greenaway Medal winner Levi Pinfold. Exciting new extra content includes fact files and profiles of favourite characters, and each book has sprayed edges in the house colours. Available for a limited period only, these highly collectable editions are a must-have for all Harry Potter fans. Review: Lovely! Enchanting! Gorgeous! - When it comes to Harry Potter, I prefer not to be critical. All I want to do is sit back on some place nice and cozy, and enjoy. So, this review will be more of a personal journey rather than a critical commentary. Like many others, I grew up watching the movies. I wouldn’t exactly call myself a potterhead, but I must confess that right from the start Rowling’s Hogwarts and its worldbuilding was gripping. And I was pulled into the magical world of Harry Potter. However, despite my many attempts to convince my family to buy me one set, due to financial constraints I could never manage to get hold of the books until recently when the gorgeous and tempting 20th Anniversary Editions started coming out. Along with my fiancée, we started collecting the series one by one, especially all from the Gryffindor and the Slytherin houses. After collecting all of them and finally getting the spare time to read, we started reading the books together this year. And boy, was it fun! More so because all this time I kept nagging about why my fiancé should abstain from watching the films, despite her many fussy attempts, hehe. Thing is I knew that reading the books would be an experience because the movies would definitely cut and alter some events. For her, I wanted the authentic experience and we did read together the first book (myself, the Gryffindor edition and my partner, the Slytherin edition) and that too, from these beautifully made anniversary editions. I could see the awe in myself as well when I came across events that weren’t there in the movies. And reading and visualizing it together made us really feel that we were at Hogwarts. We rushed through the first book, sometimes awe-struck, sometimes nostalgic (for me), mostly excited. For me, I could relish the awe and the tremendous happy excitement from my beloved–who is a newbie to the Harry Potter world and it is absolutely delightful for me to look at her all captivated by Hogwarts and to share her glee and exhilaration– which also made me revisit my childhood moments, my first time with Hogwarts. It was such an endearing read for me and to watch the child-like delight in the eyes of my beloved, made our read thoroughly enchanting and extremely restless. I can only imagine her excitement and thrill to come and I feel so happy and grateful to have the opportunity and love to read this beautiful journey together. This is like one of those tantalizing books for which we’ll have to squeeze out spare time during holidays so that we can revisit the series every year, followed by a snugly and cuddly movie marathon. Such a lovely adventure! Review: Simply Magical - I am a die-hard Potterhead and have 3 different editions of "Philosopher's Stone" so when these 8 (including hard and soft cover) 20th anniversary edition of the same book were released I was tempted to buy all 8 of them but then settled my self with only 4 (2 Hardcover of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff edition and 2 softcover of rest 2 houses). That is why I was hoping for some additional but different stuff related to particular houses other than the cover. I wasn't sure about it as there were no additional information provided in product summary. Now after receiving them I am quite glad that my expectations are fulfilled. The look and feel of book is simply magical. The introduction of house contains stuff about House Founder, Relic, Livery, Ghost along with a Hogwarts map. Apart from these there are additional stuff related to sorting, Hogwarts quiz, House Common Room, Famous house students (the trio in this case), alumnus (Dumbledore) and Head (Mcgonagall) along with House Cup info. The last 3 pages are dedicated to an article about the 20 years' journey of Potterverse. I only have one expectation which is not fulfilled i.e. The "1st Edition Cover" of the book. They often include those in these kind of anniversary edition and they could have easily accommodated that inside the gate fold cover (on the hard bound) which is plain black in current version. It would have added additional attraction in Hardbound edition. Nonetheless it's almost as perfect as a it could get and I guess I need not to say anything about the main story because apparently the entire world is in fan-list. A must have "Collector's Edition" for all the Potterheads, go for it.

The Magic Continues...
It's Harry Potter for God's sake!!! Just go for it! 20 years up!(well, on 26th it will be.) And what a great way to celebrate with House Edition copies. The moment I saw this on Bloomsbury.com, I just had to get it. I was elated to know that it was available for preorder on Amazon. Great service. The book in general is pretty cool, it contains information about your house(in this case, Gryffindor as I was sorted into Gryffindor on Pottermore. Would also consider getting the Slytherin edition at some point.) and has a couple of illustrations and a quiz. It has additional info on Jo Rowling as well as compared to the other books, I mean talk about Special Edition! It'll look rad on a bookshelf and is a great conversation starter. Another great thing about this book is that it was printed and bound in Great Britain, how cool is that?! Printed right where the book is set! But the thing that disappoints me is that in the UK, a leather bookmark which corresponds to your book's house is included in the package. Bloomsbury should've made it available in all countries, not just the UK. :( But overall, whether you're a returning Potterhead, or whether you've just received your Hogwarts acceptance letter, this book is a must buy!!! HURRY! I've heard it's limited edition!!!

An awesome book to your collection, but !!!
If you are a potterhead and looking to improve your collection, this is it. I bought the paperback variant. Unlike the Hardcover, this one's red and the next book ( chamber of secret) is black and so on. The "velvet-ish" red binding really gives a premium feel. But I think its the packing, just a plastic case with a layer of bubble wrap wasn't enough. Edges of the book got damaged. A quick glance won't reveal it, since most of the damages was on the back side. Me, personally, don't mind, but it could be a real pet peeve for rest of the nerds. I suggest to go for the Hardcover, since it might withstand the damages more during the shipping. Also the price range doesn't feel so higher from paperback when you are buying the books one by one for reading. Otherwise if you have the money to burn, buy the full set, so they might take it seriously and *maybe they might send it in a carboard box, which increase the chances of your book not getting damaged. But I still think buying one by one is better. ;)

Fantastic Anniversary Edition! Well worth the money!
I pre-ordered this as soon as I saw it and received my copy today after waiting for ages and it was well worth the wait and I don't think I've ever opened a package so quickly! I love that the book has been released in four versions for each of the four houses and that they are also in house colours. There is extra information at the front with information about the founders of each house and other information. There's an introduction to Gryffindor (or whatever house book you buy), all different information about the house that is the house relic, ghost etc, there's a map of Hogwarts, famous Gryffindors, a Hogwarts quiz and so much more. I am very impressed with this book, it's gorgeous and has way more content that I expected. I would definitely recommend this book for any Harry Potter fan.

Wizards, magic and dragons... What more could one ask for?
It's been ages since the books were finished and movies done with. They were part of my childhood and teenage years and although I had already read them all, I never owned the books. Seeing this special edition was what I needed to begin my Harry Potter book collection. It's one of my favorites and having a book to hold and read as your own is a pleasure like no other. The design is beautiful and the extras hidden with the book are so worth it. If I were to be sorted I wanted to be in Gryffindor and that's why I bought this particular special edition. The outer cover is amazingly designed and although the story is old, there a few tidbits hidden within worth reading about the founder and famous alumni of the house. Although most of it is already known just being able to go into the book again and delving into the story is so worth it. Hopefully you'll enjoy this book as much as I have.

Amazing!!
This isn't about the story in book because everyone knows it's the best. This is about the condition and Design of book. And it's very good. I'm satisfied. If you're sorted into Gryffindor. You should definitely buy this book. And also do not buy this book if you haven't watched all movies because there are spoilers for every movie in this book. If you don't know how to get sorted into a house, Go to Wizarding World official website and create an account. That's it.

It’s really amazing to learn about new facts and details that we ...
This editon is absolutely spectacular! There’s lot more information about particular wizards/witches and how they got sorted into this house, their biodata on the last few pages of the book. It’s really amazing to learn about new facts and details that we didn’t know before. Even though I have both paperbacks and hardcovers of Harry Potter, I’m more than happy to say that I don’t regret buying the new edition. I’m actually pleased to invest the money on the new edition because it feels like the book belonged to me. It’s like I’m with my home. #GryffindorPride

Absolutely Great!
I order the paperback and honestly is beautiful! The red is such an eye-catcher and the actual Gryffindor symbol gorgeous. It looks great and I honestly would recommend it over the Hardcover. Of course the Hardcover would be a great collectible but in the end from what I have read it isn't that great where as the paperback is very good looking and something I would definitely get as a gift or for collecting. The only downside is that the red coloring on the sides of the pages must have slightly ran into the pages as it is pretty viable but nothing to really complain about and it surely does not influence how beautiful this book really is. 5 stars and I would recommend it to all Potterheads! Ich habe das Paperback bestellt und es ist echt Super! Total schön und das Rot ist ein Absolutes eye-catcher! Das Gryffindor symbol ist klar and sehr schön vom ansehen her. Also auf Jeden Fall 5 Sterne!

Fantastic and Beautiful
Beautiful edition of the book. Colors are stunning and the pictures full of detail on the cover and inside the book. The extra Gryffindor information inside is fun. There is even a fun quiz to challenge the best HP fans. As an American, it is also fun to read the original UK published version of the book.

Arrived super fast
I purchased this for a University unit I later had to withdraw from, but a great investment. Perfect for when the nieces, nephews, grandchildren or your own children can read, including yourself

Nothing more to add...
Well, just look at the title of the book, the edition, the aspect... it says it all. I suppose there isn't a person left on this planet who does not know who Harry Potter is. This novel is, of course, the reprinting of the first in the series, with a special anniversary presentation. I have been a great fan since the publication of this first opus, now over 20 years ago. My eldest son, then 6, learnt how to read purposely so he could devour the series!
