L'Arbre Genereux (The Giving Tree), French Edition

We are bilingual and need both French and English books for our children. I am happy to report that the French version of The Giving Tree is well translated, and as captivating in French as it is in English. Unlike many French children's books on Amazon, this one is well-written in correct and charming literary French. It is also of excellent binding and quality (unlike other French children's books on Amazon; cough cough Dr. Seuss, je vous regarde). I am so thankful we found this edition, I think it will be a wonderful edition to any francophone's collection.

My elementary kids take French as a 2nd language and they need to read every day for at least 30 minutes in each language. This book has been a wonderful addition to their French library.

The translation was excellent. Shipping was fast. All in all, a success.

I got this for Christmas for my sibling who got her degree in French. It was such a perfect gift as we owned this book in English when we were growing up!

Was a perfect gift

This French version of Shel Silverstein's beloved children's story will be familiar because the illustrations are the same as the English edition. I was disappointed that it is in paperback and is not as large as the version in English. I purchased it to give to an American family with three young daughters that is hosting a little girl from Haiti who is in U.S. for surgery and recuperation from injuries caused by the earthquake there. I wanted something she could understand and that would be familiar to her little American hostesses. It certainly filled the bill on both counts, so I guess the size was not really an issue. Buyers should be aware that this is a smaller format.

This book was purchased in order to teach French to primary school children. The use of authentic materials which are clear will enable us to enjoy language learning in a creative manner. Also, as we have penfriends in France, the English version has been purchased so that both groups will be learning the same things. A great way of learning!
