Met my need
This product worked as intended. However, it was kind of tough to grind down and very messy. I ended up having to replace yhe belt on my sander during the process, because it gummed it up. Still a soft enough recoil pad and to use when shortening the length of my synthetic stock.

Looks great. Was everything I was looking for in a recoil pad. Proper sizing makes them eazy to fit. Measure twice order once

I love using LimbSavers. I even use one on my break barrel pellet rifle. Once you grind them to fit they are not as pretty, but they sure are effective. Prices have gone up lately, I don't know if this is because all firearm related items are in high demand since Obama got elected or some because of some other reason. On a hunting rifle these are not as inportant because you are only shooting once, or twice, and the adrenalin prevents you from felling pain. But if you are shooting semi-auto or several rounds at the range, these shoulder savers sure are nice.

Limited applications...
I've been a big fan of Limbsaver recoil pads for years and once tested them against four other brands for high volume bird hunting in South America. (Limbsaver came out on top.) Unfortunately, this 5/8" thick pad doesn't live up to Limbsaver's reputation. Much of its thickness is taken up by the plastic mounting plate which provides no recoil absorption. Shot 100 rounds in a lightweight 20 ga. side by side shotgun recently and it beat me up pretty good (and I typically shoot 300 to 500 clay targets per week with a 12 ga O/U shotgun). The pad looks nice and is easy to fit, but I would only use it for low volume shooting and/or a relatively heavy shotgun or rifle. PO

Well worth it for your Marlin 336.
After watching some Youtube guides I trimmed to fit with minimal effort using a belt sander. Took the sharp recoil of my Marlin 336 30-30 down to "comfortable". Thickness doesn't greatly effect LOP. I prefer the aesthetics of this to a slip on alternative I have used. I highly recommend for this application.
