John Bauer Tarot Deck

Absolutely magickal deck!!
I wasn't sure at first when I looked through the deck, Princes and Princesses and giants and trolls but on using the cards and becoming familiar with their meanings the deck is an absolute delight to use and read from. My newest favourite! Love it!

Great deck
As a Swede I love love love this deck, it is absolutely gorgeous and has both similarities but also it's own unique take on both the major and minor arcana. A good deck for people who like to focus more on the imagery rather than the guidebook and/or the traditional meanings. Absolutely recommend for anyone who feels drawn to this deck :)

Beautiful cards
Love these cards. Only slight downside is the book. It’s very basic with a sentence per card.

Quirky
I really love the illustrations in this tarot deck. However, I would not recommend these for a beginner.

Excellent!
A beautiful deck with beautiful mystical artwork. I am very very pleased with this deck. I am presently reading John Bauer’s stories which are connected to the cards which gives me a deeper understanding of the deck although, it does come with a small interpretation booklet, which albeit small, contains a very refreshing perspective on common tarot interpretations in addition to the cards themselves. This has quickly become my most favourite deck ever! I was looking for something that wasn’t too far foreign to the Rider Waite system —but completely different. After years of reading the RW I wanted a deck that could stretch my imagination and clearly make me see things from a wider and deeper perspective —and this is it. 5 stars! The cardstock is good, thin enough to shuffle comfortably but sturdy. I would definitely rate the stock as thin cardboard than paper. The cards have a matt finish and the cards are NOT reversible, they are meant to be read upright, which is likeable to me, although I’ve always read reversals in the past —this is a refreshing change! And although the cards for me need more stretching of intuition to read —that’s exactly what I was looking for in a deck. ‘Definitely not for beginner readers’ —I hear that all the time and I don’t particularly agree with that system of thinking. It just shows the ‘systematised’ thinking that unfortunately prevails in tarot reading. The deck for you is the one that relates to you, that speaks to you. I personally feel that this deck would make a great first deck! —And I wish I had started with this deck actually! The symbolism is minimalist but very rich and it leaves it up to the reader, to look within the art depictions of the cards and within themselves to interpret the meaning vs. This is ‘The King of Pentacles’ —and this is what it means. I’ve been looking for a deck for a while because being pagan I was dissatisfied with the RW Christianised symbolism —and although there is a minor amount of that in this deck which was a bit disappointing … (3 cards out of the entire deck) I’ve since found an intuitive interpretation of those minor discrepancies I can live with because this deck is so superior in so many ways so to toss it because of a couple of obvious Christian references would be a waste! Decks are either Christian-based or Witchcraft-based, and I am neither; I am faery.
