My wife and I picked up this set after deciding to try Pickleball in the fall of 2025. We started off by heading to a local court less than 10 min away and squeezing in an hour of play before dark. This Selkirk starter club set was very inexpensive to get going and really helped us both learn that we actually liked the game. Had we tried and not liked it I wouldn't have felt too bad about not using the gear from this kit, but we've both got the itch and owe it to this user friendly set for getting us going. These paddles are no frills and pretty barebones for what it's worth. If you've never played with a Gen III or better, you'll start off oblivious like me, which is the best way to start. I imagine these are Gen I paddles as they seem to be fiberglass faced with possibly a fiberglass core, but they definitely have enough juice for some casual play/a beginner. I've tried a Gen III and Gen IV paddle and can definitely tell the difference, but newer doesn't always mean better for the user.
