The book I needed came sooner than expected which is a big plus. However, the book did come with some highlighted pages which was not stated in the description when I ordered it. This almost led me to leaving a 4 star. Overall, I am satisfied with the book and for that reason I gave it a five star! Thank you.

This book seems to be a classroom staple for family violence classes. However, there are two glaring areas of flawed writing and research. First, the author makes entirely too many claims based on personal opinion (with little or no research to back them up) and makes them seem like they are simply facts. The book is littered with this type of confirmation bias by the author. Second, while the reality of male victims of violence is addressed, it is seriously marginalized in favor of almost all situations being directed toward the female victim. Rather like a professor saying "Abuse knows no gender; so let's talk about how abuse toward women is rampant across all cultures." Just a badly researched text with serious gender bias. It's not a terrible work, just a flawed one.
