OEM replacement
The cap and rotor solved my issue and was a quick and inexpensive fix. The unit that was installed had bad corrosion and once replaced the motor ran like a champ. This was used on a 5.0 L Mercruiser installed in a 23 ft Sea Ray.

Broke in 3 engine hours - was it quicksilver part? got me.
I wanted an actual quicksilver quality part. Foolish me this was the cheapest supposed offering for one, i am doubtful this was an actual quicksilver quality part i spent extra for. After putting this on the engine, i took 4 boat trips. Then a longer boat trip down the chesapeake bay, like a 1.5 hour trip. Overnighted. On the way back I was cruising along at 3300 rpm (26mph) about 40 minutes and all of a sudden the boat just stops. Im in near the shipping channel and wind is pushing my closer to the middle of it. Sure enough a massive tanker ship is coming on the horizon. the Wife was not relaxed as it passed us merely 150ft. You can see the picture. this package came in a small unmarked box. No label, nothing about quicksilver. It was jammed in there with no packaging. The center electrode that broke in the picture was pushed downward a bit. The lack of packaging surely had a hand in possible metal fatigue. This is imo the exact piece of chinese garbage i was paying to avoid. It left me stranded in the middle of the bay in front of a tanker. I wouldn't but this again. haha

Perfect
OEM parts worked exactly as expected. I am SOOOOO-tired of using aftermarket rotors and caps and having them fail out of the box or within a few months of use in my boat. The OEM cap/rotor are the only parts I'll use anymore; you can physically see the aging of my 1-season-old rotor (yellow-ish bottom rotor in picture)... the OEMs don't do that. I bought a brand new aftermarket rotor a few years ago to replace an older OEM (which was working fine) as part of a tune-up, and it took me days to figure out the new aftermarket rotor was internally shorting-out and causing my problems (I figured it out after days, when the stupid rotor finally melted where the problem was, making it obvious).

Is OEM better?
I compared factory parts to Sierra, and the Sierra actually looked to be of better quality.

Don't buy the aftermarket Chinese replacement !
I originally bought the much less expensive Chinese aftermarket replacement kit for my boat engine. The hardware was incorrect and the cap and rotor did not fit well. I did finally get it installed but afterwards I was having Ignition issues. I then bought the OEM Quicksilver kit and installed it. The hardware was all correct, the fitment was spot on and ignition problems resolved. You get what you pay for, lesson learned.

Fake/counterfeit part received
Was in what appears to be a real quicksilver box, but the actual cap and rotor was not a genuine quicksilver part.

I paid double the price… should be about 65$, not 143$!
