If our home was on fire and I had time to grab one piece of furniture along with the papers, photos, and pets... I would grab this. If I had to build a new home, I would choose styles, textures, and colors using this as a guide. My wife bought this for me to use as a place to put down my drink or the TV remote next to my rocking chair in the living room. It's the perfect height for that purpose. The surface is plenty large to hold both those things as well as a BLT on a plate. But what really sets it apart is the feeling of warmth you get looking at the wood grain or simply caressing it. It's solidly carved out of a single chunk of wood, and I like the flow of the dark and light woods in my particular unit. I read others' concerns about getting samples that are mostly one color. Luck of the draw I guess. I wish we could find an excuse to buy another one or two. Hmmm...
