Q: I'm not sure if my toilet is round or elongated. How do I measure?

Measure from back to front using the inside measurement. A round toilet is usually 12 in. back to front and 11 in. side to side. Use the round hinged toilet seat. If the measurement is 14 in. back to front and 11 in. side to side it is the elongated type. I have one of each.

Q: Does the regular toliet seat sit on top of this?

Beware. Your toilet seat attaches to the riser with the bolts included with the riser. If your toilet seat has the quick release for removing the seat for cleaning, the bolts included may not work. They didn't on mine. I had to buy a new seat without the quick release. These aren't easy to find anymore.

Q: I have an elongated toilet. The toilet seat measures 19" from back to front and is 14 1/4" at its widest point. Will this seat fit my toilet?

It fits the elongated toilet perfectly. I had ordered three others before finding this one. You take off the seat that came with the toilet and then lay your own seat on top of it. Using the bolts supplied, drop them thru the holes on toilet and tighten underneath. I was really looking for one that had a lid and an opening in the front, but this works okay. The hole is big enough and gets the job done. I am a female senior and I installed it with no problems. It has not come loose and stays nice and tight. I am a 5'9" tall and weigh 225 and it works well. There was no where else I could find a seat measuring this length and thats what you need for an elongated toilet. Would have like to had one 5" tall and the opening in front but this works okay.

the outside length is 17 -1/4 and the width is 13 -3/4 the inside length 11 -1/4 and the width is 11- 1/4
