Review: Its much smaller than claimed. It's not 20oz (600ml). It's maybe 350ml at most. Good material. Quite solid. Not a Mueller. But I didn't care. I'm very upset about the size though as I needed it to be 20 oz.
Review: I’ve used Mueller 20 oz Stainless Steel French press for the last week and I’ve been very pleased with this product and the coffee it produces. Dollar for dollar, when paired with a good burr grinder, I don’t know that I’ll find a better way to make a great cup of coffee! I use the OXO Burr Conical Coffee Grinder set at 14 grind setting (coarse) and Peet’s Major Dickinson whole bean coffee and grind three level coffee scoops of beans for about 12 seconds to produce the grounds. After placing ground coffee in the pre-heated carafe, I add just enough hot (205 degree F) water to cover the grounds, stir and let the grounds “bloom” a bit (30 seconds). Then I add 205 degree water to the press to the fill line, stir a bit, and place the top on the press (with plunger up). I let the coffee brew for four minutes. Then I confirm the arrow on the top of the press is pointing towards the handle and press the plunger slowly. Before I had the burr grinder I did experiment using pre-ground Peet’s drip coffee grounds in this press. I pushed the plunger very slowly and poured from the press carefully. The coffee tasted great and there was very fine grounds in the bottom of the coffee cup—to be expected. I drank the coffee slowly and discarded the last little bit of coffee. I really like the double-wall insulation. I preheat the press with near boiling water first, then heat the water I’ll use to make the coffee. The press works very well and keeps the coffee warm for the second mug. The 20 oz size is good if you want two 8-10 oz mugs of coffee as I do each morning. If you need more coffee consider the larger press by Mueller. The clean-up is easy. Once all the coffee has been poured, I remove the top/plunger and shake the grounds out into the trash can. I then use a small silicon spatula to easily remove the remaining grounds from the carafe and place them in the trash. Then the entire press is washed in soap and water. I unscrew the filter portion and wash each part and then completely dry before reassembly. If you don’t disassemble and clean each filter part, then you run the risk of small grounds and water trapped between the filter parts which can affect the taste of your coffee. The stainless steel construction looks very good and feels very sturdy. I’m very happy with this Mueller French Press. I’ve owned and used several other French presses over the years and this is my favorite and my favorite way of making coffee at home. The only coffee I’ve tasted that has been better was from my sister’s very expensive espresso/coffee barista machine at ~20-30(?) times the cost! Maybe someday I can justify that investment and the space on the counter? In the mean time, the Mueller French Press is creating exceptional coffee! [Additional comparison thoughts: To get the best results from a French press you do need a way to create consistent coarse coffee grinds. The OXO Burr Conical Coffee Grinder is one of the most affordable and high quality grinders I found in my research. You can find it on desertcart. So between the OXO grinder and the Mueller French press I’ve invested about $120 (the grinder was on sale a few days ago!). So comparing the burr grinder and French press together, the high-end espresso/coffee barista machine is about 6-8 times that cost and 4-5 times the volume on the counter.]

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Where is this made?**
A: If they weren't being deceptive they would Have put chine made french press
It certainly is deceptive and made in china means made in china.
The reason people don't want things made in china...as the person who made this ad certainly knows.. Is because they have sent toxic things out of their country for consumption on multiple occasions.
So keep your judgment and crap to yourself. Solid answer. One word fact. Country of origin. Period. Other people can make up this kind if they want the product with the information they asked for and without you trying to defend china made materials. China don't care about you and they don't need your help. Obviously we know our houses have been filled with crap and have become savvy in asking where it's made to avoid continuing to fill our houses with toxic cheap items

**Q: Where is this made?**
A: I have bought three Mueller Austria products and have been thrilled with the quality and value. Yes, it is "Austrian" in quality. From Liquid Image: "No, Mueller Austria is not a Chinese company. It is a family-owned business based in the United States. The company is best known for its product line of kitchen appliances, tools, and cookware. The company was founded by Helmut Mueller, an Austrian immigrant, in 1927, and is still owned and operated by his descendants."

Who the heck cares if the family still celebrates their Austrian heritage?

There is now a ridiculous class action lawsuit about Mueller Austria in California. Because a shill for lawyers (won't mention her name as the 'class representative') is suing because she says 'reasonable consumers' would assume the products are made in Austria. Anyone with half a brain will realize that in these days we are a global economy. Companies originate from one place and to save costs end up manufacturing in China or other places. The plaintiff claims 'suffering' and that she would paid less had it not had the "Austria" designation. This is patently ridiculous, because the product quality is excellent and well worth the price. I signed up to receive the proposed settlement, which is $15-30 per applicant based on the number of Mueller Austria items I've purchased (3 so far, plan on purchasing more in the future. Why? because the QUALITY is good). The lawyers will receive up to $200,000 and the 'class representative', the 'poor, deceived' person, will receive $1500. Nice work if you can get it.

Although I'm happy to receive the money if the court decides to give it (Mueller Austria has agreed to the settlement), I'm still going to write a letter to the court stating an objection to this frivolous lawsuit. I'll be even happier if the suit is dismissed. Frivolous lawsuits like this are increasing our costs in California.

**Q: How often do I need to replace filters?**
A: The filters are made of stainless steel fine mesh that is pressed into shape. Over time, they do get rough around the edges or may bend differently. They last a long time, do not erode, but after a few years may need to be replaced. The edges fit snugly when new, but with use, may bend and warp so ground may leak into coffee. Having 1-2 on hand ensures years of carefree use.

**Q: how much coffee does it make?**
A: Depends on what you consider a "cup" of coffee :-)

It makes 4 eight ounce cups of coffee. The way most coffee drinkers get their morning jolt with a 12-16 ounce cup of coffee.

This insulated French Press makes a great cup of coffee and keeps it hot.
