As you can see in the attached video, my workspace is small so I wanted a compact hot air gun for SMD rework. I was interested in the KSGER unit as it looked small and professionally made. What I got: The unit arrived very well packaged and all the components inside were bubble wrapped and well protected. You get the base unit and hot air gun, a platform for the gun with a mounting bracket and four friction fit tips. No manual shipped with the unit. Use: The base unit goes from off to functional in about 3 seconds and it runs the fan on the air gun for a 1/2 second as part of this process. I had no problem figuring out the intuitive (at least for me) interface. You can easily set the target temp and the fan speed directly from the single knob by spinning (temp) and pressing and spinning (fan speed). I can take up to a minute for the air to reach lead-free rework temperature but, I measured the temperature control with my Fluke thermocouple and found it to be fairly accurate. The air gun automatically begins cooling down and will shut off once placed in the provided stand. Interface: The display shows you a fair bit of information but temp, fan speed and power output % were the most useful. While small, I did not have any issues reading the display even when it sat at the back edge of my desk. There is a lot of options on the unit - many more than others I have seen. You can set the following with a long press on the knob: - Fan Speed and temp stepping granularity - Cold end Mode and temp - Turn on/off buzzer for indicating target temp - Whether you want to set temp or fan speed first (without press) - Screen saver and activation time - Set a password to lock changes - Language - English or Chinese - Read System Information - Set date and time and initialize clock I did not end up changing any of these but it is cool that the option exists. I have used this hot air gun to do rework several times now and and very pleased with it. I also ran the hot air gun extensively as I prepared the review video. I am pleased to have it on my workbench as it fits my need for a compact and capable hot air gun for SMD rework. Disclosure: I received an evaluation unit from KSGER in exchange for my time in evaluating this product and creating this review and video.
