Super bright light for the home!
Was shocked at the value of this light, very bright and crisp ligh produced. We constantly have power outages in the summer and needed something to safely navigate the house when the lights are out. This light was perfect. No it's not a heavy duty everyday carry or work light but for the average homeowner, it's perfect! It's small enough to tuck into a shelf for emergencies. It has great rubber coating that makes it feel durable and long lasting and the lens is very thick and shockingly bright light that you can dim. For general use, this is a great value!

Excellent flashlight and value
I have a number of more expensive flashlights (Surefire, etc.) that are great for what I use them for (hiking, EDC, etc.), so I know a bit about flashlights. Here's what I like about the Energizer Hard Case Task Light:1. Good power (2 settings - low and high)2. Bright white beam color3. Wider-angle beam, relative to some other types of lights4. Runs on 2 AA batteries, cheap and easy availability5. Side switch is very easy to activate6. Flat bottom allows it to stand up7. Seems durable8. Excellent valueFor general use around the home and car I find this flashlight to be much better and more useful than the higher-power, tactical-style lights. It throws a much wider beam that's useful within 20 feet or so in a dark room. The switch is much easier to activate than typical tail-cap switches. Some reviewers said the battery life is poor. I typically use it for a minute or two at a time, perhaps a couple of times a day, so I can't offer any useful feedback on battery life. It did seem that the batteries that came with it didn't last too long - don't know if they were just old batteries that had been on the shelf for awhile or if the flashlight does drain batteries fairly quickly.I popped in a pair of Eneloop AA rechargeable batteries. They fit and worked fine. Some rechargeables are slightly larger than standard AA batteries and fit can be an issue, but the Eneloops fit just like regular AA batteries. One issue I encountered seemed like a problem but wasn't. I was having problems turning the flashlight on, and it was only providing one power setting, not two. I thought it may have been faulty, but it was just low batteries. Popped in another set of batteries and it was fine.If you're looking for a high-output tactical light, this isn't it. But it's a great flashlight for home and car use.Assuming the flashlight holds up over time, it's a steal at the price it sells for.

Small, handy with good light
Easy to hold and feels substantial. Supposedly can withstand a 2-story drop and is waterproof. Small size makes it useful for just about anywhere. Two light settings: We have only used it on the brightest setting, which has a good beam. The low setting would save on batteries. Two AAs came with the flashlight. I think it is well worth the price. We'll see.

Rugged, good on nearly all counts; the cap sometimes turns and disables the light.
PROs:- Will not turn on by itself in my pocket.- Has the right level of brightness (300 lumens)- Water-resistant (I work around pools and large water hoses)- Has a lanyard hole (work around pools and huge floor grates).- The cap is easily removed to replace the batteries.- The button is recessed, so the light will not turn on accidentally, yet I can turn it on while wearing gloves.- The button is bright orange (against the black body) so I can find it in low-light rooms.- rugged--I've bounced it around a bit before I found a good lanyard Jili Online Multifunctiona Fishing Lanyard Spring Rope Stretchy Coil Cord Coiled Tether with Carabiner.- It's nice to have the two levels of brightness (there is a way to continuously dim/brighten the light, but I don't use that function).CON: A few times in the last month while walking and climbing, the rear cap has rotated 1/16 to 1/8 turn in my pocket and temporarily disabled the flashlight. It was slight enough that I didn't notice at first. I might put a bit of masking tape or removable LocTite on the threads. My previous flashlight, the Coast PX20 Dual Color 315 Lumen LED Flashlight kept turning itself on in my pocket (white or red LEDs or both!!) and heated up. This one doesn't do that.

These will drain every bit of available energy from AA batteries
I have a lot of different LED lights, but this is the one I almost always reach for first. The balance of size/brightness/ease of switching are just right for me.But another feature I really like is that it will drain the last bit of energy from AA batteries. I hardly ever put new batteries in this light, but use mostly AA's I've taken out of other devices. I keep a box of used batteries from things like TV remotes and other devices. Sometimes they were replaced because of low battery warnings, or just on a yearly basis to prevent corrosion damage. Most of these batteries still have life left in them, and this light will get all that is left. I only use the light a couple of minutes at a time, around the house. I only put new batteries in it if I am taking it camping or some other use where I need to depend on longer use.A lot of devices will complain when a 1.5 volt alkaline battery gets down to about 1.3 or so. When this light is done with them, they can be as low as under 1.0 volts before it finally stops working.
