Martingale will REPLACE your copy if it's the one with errors
First, I want to comment on the errors that were in the early releases (I believe editions 1 and 2) of this calendar/book. Martingale will REPLACE your copy FREE OF CHARGE if it happens to be one of the early editions that did have errors. I have no affiliation with Martingale, or this book - just a happy customer. You can contact them thru e-mail, snail mail, or telephone. On the FIRST inside page of the book is their web address and snail mail address. This page also contains all the info you need to give them in order for them to know if your book has problems. Although I never encountered a problem, I checked with them, and my book was one that had errors. I am still at the beginner/novice stage, and had used about 6 to 12 of their stitch patterns without any problem, so I was surprised that my copy was one with errors. And, I know of several others who have this book/calendar and never encountered a problem, but did have an edition that was known to have errors, and they had them replaced as well. Martingale acted quickly, and I received my new copy in less than 10 days, during holiday season. AND they do NOT ask you to return the old book, or charge any shipping/handling.OK, now about the book/calendar. I LOVE it. It's a perpetual calendar so you will be able to use it year after year. Even though I have had this book/calendar for more than a year, it is still a pleasure each morning to flip to the next day and see the beautiful, clear, crisp, close-up photo of beautifully knitted stitches. There is 1 page for every day of the year. And each page contains a different pattern - complete with the pattern and its name, a photo and the number of stitches to work the pattern (i.e. Multiple of 2 +1). These patterns can be used for clothing, accessories - your imagination (and ability) is the limit. This is great for all knitters - from the very beginner to the advanced. And, if you do buy this calendar/book, here's a tip: You'll want to start a notebook (or file) on which to write the date and pattern name (and perhaps what you have in mind for this pattern). I say this because there are so many you will want to use. On my original copy, I started putting sticky note tabs on the dates that had patterns I wanted to use (not realizing how many I would love)... well, I ran out of sticky note tabs, and it looked plain 'ol tacky with those silly things hanging off the edge :-) (I did say I was a beginner, so I learned a lot since I first purchased this book - about knitting, and about keeping track of patterns.)I have many knitting books, but this is THE one I see/use every day.

A useful and inspirational product by an excellent company.
I had originally purchased an older edition of this calendar which, as it turned out, had errors in it. I went to the Martingale & Company website and learned that I had to contact the company in order to request the corrections. After a brief chat with a very pleasant customer service representative, the company promptly resolved the issue by sending me a corrected edition which I received today. Thank you Martingale & Company; you are a company which stands behind its products and which deserves the fiber arts community's continued patronage. As a novice knitter, I am inspired by the colorful stitch patterns and straightforward instructions presented in this useful calendar format. If there is only one improvement that I could suggest for subsequent editions, it would be to indicate whether a given pattern is reversible. Other than that, this is an excellent product from an exceptional US company.

Clear, colorful, and inspiring
This handy little book (although you wouldn't hold it sideways, like most books) is well worth the price. The spiral binding makes it very easy to keep a page open to where you want it. The pages aren't all that large, but the pictures are big, colorful, and taken from the right angle for each one to demonstrate what you need to see. The directions are in small type, but easy enough to read that you might just write them down larger somewhere else to keep with your project (I use the 4 X 6 index cards with alternate-row coloring). It is both entertaining and inspiring to flip through these pages.

Knitting the year away
It's fun to see the new knitting stitch patterns with each new day. The calendar is good and study, and sits well on the desk, which leads me to believe I'll be able to use it for a few years. The patterns I've knit so far have been clear and mistake-free. The instructions have been simple enough for a beginner knitter. Nothing is charted, however, and the cable patterns are just focused on the cable stitch; I was hoping for something a little more comprehensive RE cabling. But once I learn to cable, these instructions will probably make more sense. In summary: This won't teach you to knit, and you won't find instructions for complete items. It will introduce you to some fun stitches, look pretty on your desk (oh, the color!), and BTW, tell you what day it is.

Love This Calendar
This calendar is out of print, so I ordered it second hand. It is in great condition and I was so happy to find it. It arrived quickly and is as promised.

Best book for beginners and oldies alike!
Update: Feb 2022This is still my go-to book for knit stitches. I use this book even before going on line. It's easy to read, follow, and search. It has most of the knit stitches that I need.I bought this book in 2013 when I first learned to knit. It has been my go-to book for just about everything. It has pictures and easy to read instructions for over 100 knit stitches and patterns. If you are just beginning to knit, this is the book to get.

LOVE IT!!
I am thoroughly enjoying my knitting calendar. It gives very clear directions for each stitch shown (I'm a rank amateur). The calendar itself is very sturdy and will last for a long time . . . it's a perpetual calendar that can be used year after year. Every knitter, beginner or experienced, should have this! It's a great and fun reference to have on hand. Currently, when I see a pattern that I especially like, I make it up as a "spa cloth" with linen yarn (100% cotton yarn makes great dishcloths), roughly 40 stitches square. They work up quickly, and if there's a mistake made while learning, it doesn't matter . . . the cloths are for practice.

an amazing guide to knitting ideas
Hand on heart, I've had this calendar for a couple of years now and it has helped me no end to make baby clothes with my own stitch design. Yes, there are some I couldn't do, some I wouldn't do, but it's given me more ideas than all the books sitting in the cupboard, simply because it sits on the shelf, where it catches my eye and there's different design to look at every day of the year. Wonderful idea. I just wish they'd reprint the Crochet Stitches calendar as the last time I looked it was a dreadfully high price.

Highly recommend
365 KNITTING STITCHES A YEAR is awesome. You'll never need another guide for stitches. There are many others to buy but they would be a waste of money. The desktop calendar binding leaves your hands free to knit. I have been crocheting/knitting for 35 years and still can learn from this book.I bought this book to expand my patterns and designs. It will do that and then some.
