I used to buy the old Sam's brand Lamb and Rice formula - which is a good food, but I always had to add something to it, like milk, broth, treats to make it palatable to the pups. This formula doesn't require anything but the kibble, and so treats remain treats instead of part of the meal.They both eat it up without any issues; no digestive problems.I originally found out about it through our dog trainer. She suggested it because my Newfie is a senior and is starting to have allergies - itchy skin. We live in the South and have 2 long haired large dogs who are prone to allergies. This has helped some, but I keep them on it because they do eat it and the ingredients are high quality.I started giving them Omega 3,6,9s and Biotin again. I used to do this over a year ago and they both had beautiful hair and skin. My TM has some itching, but not bad - gorgeous coat. The Newfie is miserable and I hope putting her back on the Omega's and Biotin will reverse the issues. Her hair and skin was great when she was on them before, I just wasn't 100% sure it was the vitamins that helped. I will know soon enough and post my findings. Just put them back on them, so it may take me 2 months to update. I have also tried other holistic approaches to helping her with her skin as well as Benadryl - they help some, but not enough.Won't be disappointed and you can't beat that delivery is free, no tax and it comes straight to your door - I enjoy that I do not have to lug the large bags around Sam's. :) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ PRODUCT IS GREAT. My dog doesn't. *by Y***6 on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on May 23, 2014* This review is for the Skin & Coat Salmon, Potatoes and Veggies dry dog food:I was so excited to find a food of this quality at such a great price, so I made the switch from Fromm in order to save some money. I don’t have any complaints about the food itself, except that my Great Dane DESPISES it. That wouldn’t be a shock if she were a finicky eater, but she’s not. She lives to eat, and I have never seen her turn down food or treats of any kind (except right after a surgery) until I tried giving her this food. She just didn’t like it. There was no way I was going to throw it out, though, so for the past month I have had to coax her to eat. I did check to make sure the food wasn’t rancid or spoiled, but it wasn’t; in fact I thought it smelled kind of yummy. I would add raw egg or coat it in peanut butter to get her to eat it, but even then she had to be told a million times, “go eat your puppy chow!” I wondered if maybe she had just reached an age (11 months old this week) where she wasn’t as excited about food, but she was still crazy about treats and bones and any scrap she could beg off of me. She lost some weight this month while we tried the food, but not as much as she would have if I hadn’t added stuff to get her to eat at least some of it. The bag was dwindling down this week, so I bought a chicken based food to replace it, and she has been back to her old self, going nuts at meal time and scarfing down every morsel.I’m bummed that she didn’t love this food, because it is the best priced premium dog food I’ve come across. It has very quality ingredients and doesn’t contain grains or other nastiness my dog doesn’t need. It also made her coat super sleek and shiny. She already had a pretty nice coat since I have always fed her high quality food, but with Premium Edge Skin & Coat it got even prettier. She scratched less on this food and she wasn’t gassy, either, but it didn’t make her stools any smaller like some reviewers reported. (Still horse piles, ugh.)I mentioned to a Petsmart employee that my dog hated her food, and she told me that they hear from people all the time that dogs and even some cats turn their noses up at salmon-based food. Now, I don’t know how accurate that is, but it’s at least true for my dog. She seems to be a chicken kind of a girl, so we’re back to the chicken/brown rice food she loves, until I can afford to feed her raw.Bottom line: If your dog doesn’t hate the taste, this is an awesome food to give them, especially if they have skin issues. It will help with allergies and makes coats sleek and shiny.
