Dritz Large Oval Sewing Basket with Metal Handle, Vintage Dress Form Print

I was looking for an attractive sewing basket with a lid to corral my embroidery, cross-stitch, and applique projects. I'm happy to say this one is perfect! When it arrived, I was surprised at its size; happily so. It is quite a bit larger than I imagined it would be, even though the product measurements are given. I must be scale-impaired! Contained in this basket, my sewing is much lovelier to look at than a jumble of materials stacked wherever I am working, which is usually by the sofa, in front of a good film. It's safer too, keeping needles and pins away from Boone, my little dog, who must always be curled up next to me and for some unknown reason has to sniff everything, I guess to make sure he isn't missing out on something edible. I'd panic if he got poked or heaven forbid, tried to eat a pin or needle! I also wanted something in which I could take my projects on car trips. Voila! Not a problem! There is a divided hard plastic tray that sits elevated above a spacious bottom compartment. The tray holds all the accoutrements needed for my hand sewing projects; various flosses, needles, embroidery scissors, and a small oval hoop. I'm currently working on embroidering tea towels and a single towel fits perfectly in the bottom of the basket. (In case you like to embroider, this is the pattern I'm embroidering now: Crabapple Hill Cottage Flowerpot Tea Towels Ptrn . Isn't it charming with a vintage appeal? I love all things Crabapple Hill!) The basket is constructed of what seems to be cardboard; approximately 1/4-inch thick. I love the fabric in which it's covered! (I'd really like to find some yardage to use on other things in my sewing room; curtains perhaps.) The colors are much sharper in person than is pictured. The green and pink dress-forms on a soft pink background are charming; lending a fun French flair. I suggest spraying it with a fabric-safe, water-proofing spray to aid in keeping it clean. This will enable wiping it down with a damp cloth to remove dust and the like, without marring the fabric. This has always worked for me in the past on other cloth items. It has all the details that the product description states; around the rim is a handy tape measure, a hinged lid is rayon-lined with a pin cushion, a button embellished snap closure, and a metal handle that folds down for easier storage. On the base, the black accent is made of plastic; resembling wrought iron. The bottom has four rubber or plastic (I'm not sure which) feet to keep it elevated from the floor. I have no qualms whatsoever in recommending this sweet sewing basket to anyone looking for something to suit needs similar to mine. This is a whimsical little sewing supply box that catches your eye the minute you see it. You know what is in it just by the outside covering. You don't have to hunt for your sewing goodies anymore when you have this sewing box. You see it, you know it holds your sewing needs for emergencies. It is not big enough FOR ALL of my sewing items but most boxes would not hold all of my stuff. It does however, hold all of the things you look for on a regular basis. I have another much larger container for all of the riff raff other sewing stuff. It large enough to hold most of the things you need regularly and it even comes with some goodies. I just love this little sewing basket and it seems like it will last many years for the price. The handle seems to be secure enough to hold a bit of heaviness and the fabric it is covered with seems to be a cotton blend that will hopefully not fade as the years go by and it is a lovely sewing type pattern that just makes me adore it more.

Love this basket. It holds so much and it's so pretty. This was definitely a splurge but it makes me happy every time I wander into my sewing room. Also great for when I need to take my sewing with me. I was able to fit a few skeins of yarn under the sewing tray during a road trip a few weeks ago. Great purchase especially if you grab it discounted.

Beautiful little sewing box, has tray for smaller things. I have a room decorated in a burlesque Parisian seamstress theme and this fits in there perfectly.

I’m downsizing from a very large(three tier folding) sewing kit to this kit. It is a nice size, well made and pretty. It holds all my needles, pins, hooks and sewing notions. It’s good for all those sewing notions you need on one place.

I cannot abide cutesy. This sewing box has a clever outside fabric cover and cheerful inner lining without offending my grown-up-ish tastes. It has a fairly sturdy inner removable "shelf," and I appreciate the pockets and pin cushion built into the inside of its lid. The handle is well connected and probably won't break as easily as the handle of my old sewing box. I would have preferred a larger box with square corners that would have easily fit all of my broken box's contents, but for the price I can't complain too hard.

I purchased these for my girls for Christmas and loaded them with sewing notions. The sewing box is really well constructed, is a good size and fits with a modern decorative feel that they were pleased to be able to have out on display.

The item is a little bit duller in colour than shown, but arrived earlier than expected. Bought as a Christmas present.

Es una caja bien acabada por dentro y por fuera con una bandeja de plástico extraible. Antes yo tenia las cosas en un caja de zapatos, ésta es más grande pero sin pasarse y es decorativa. La volvería a comprar.
