unless you are comfortable adjusting the patterns to a larger size
When I first started experimenting with Jelly Roll quilts, I purchased several Jelly Rolls from the local JoAnn Fabric store. Little did I know that the rolls I purchased were actually only "half" rolls containing half the number of strips needed for most Jelly Roll patterns. The patterns in this book saved the day, allowing me to experiment with a variety of patterns using my 'half' rolls since that is all the patterns required. The resulting quilts are all small, lap robe sized, so if you are looking for large quilt patterns this isn't for you, unless you are comfortable adjusting the patterns to a larger size. For small throws, wall hangings (I made one into a signature quilt for my daughters wedding instead of a guest book), or children's coverlets, these patterns would be perfect.

I love this book, it has a lot of really great designs.
I'll be making most of the quilts from this one. Worth the purchase!

Excellent !
A friend brought this book in for me to look at. I have considered many jelly roll type books, but most did. It appeal enough for me to buy them. I dislike buying a book if there is only one pattern that catches my eye. This book held my interest and gave me lots of ideas for simple, charity and 'healing' quilts for our local cancer care patients. I am happy to have found a book that uses strips to advantage and that offers simple patterns that can still entertain the eye.

Lots of Possibilities
I wondered what this book could offer that was new in the whole jelly-roll world but it is by authors I respect and it was a good price. It arrived last night and I spent two hours reading and flipping back and forth trying to decide which quilt would be good for K and which would be nice for L and - oh - I think I'd like that one for myself! Each quilt is made from half a jelly roll, with a bit more fabric required for backgrounds or borders. Be aware: half a jelly-roll doesn't make a big quilt (think baby or lap size) but a larger quilt can be made from any pattern. Some patterns incorporate half-square triangles and strips cut on angles, while others use interesting 9-patch variations. I'm happily planning several quilts from this book. The possibilites are endless!

Loved the book!
Excellent descriptions of piecing your quilt with pictures making it very clear. I plan on buying the other books by this author.

Great ideas - a lot of fun
Jelly rolls are so much fun and I was fascinated with the idea of getting two quilts from one roll. It happened that my local quilt shop was carrying a line of jelly rolls for baby quilts that was half the size of a normal roll so I've made one of the baby quilts with that half roll but there are many quilts in the book that I really want to make. I found almost all of the patterns to be appealing.

Nice quilting book
I like the quilts in this book but many are somewhat small due to the limit of strips in a jelly roll. I think I may make one with double the size so it can go on a bed. Has very clear instructions and is a good mix of designs. If you collect jelly rolls, it is a good book for making a couple of different quilts from the same rolls.

Books for all levels of quilters
These books on making quilts with jelly rolls give clear directions as to how to sort the fabric, cut it and sew it so that there is minimum waste. They also advise as to which are suitable for beginners and which for the more advanced quilter. The illustrations are clear, both as to how to cut, sew and assemble the quilts and what the completed quilts look like. There are a wide variety of quilts to choose from, with delightful photographs of each one. These are books for all levels of quilters.

An addicitve hobby
I borrowed this book from someone in my Adult Ed Class and decided that I wanted to make a quilt from it - so I bought my own book. It is extremely interesting and beautifully illustrated. I am a total beginner so I have found this book useful, the instructions are clear although I have only just constructed some of the squares which I will need for the pattern. I would recommend this book for a beginner or for those more proficient and you don't necessarily have to buy a Jelly roll in order to complete the quilts, you can buy squares or use material you may already have which may hold memories, in order to make an heirloom. This for me, will be a long term project.

Lovely book
Being new to quiltmaking I am really happy with this book. I've made only 2 quilts before I got this book and can't wait to get started on some of the lovely designs. The instructions are clear and "idiot" proof and very suitable for someone with limited experience. I'm sure I'll be buying more books written by these ladies!
