Perfect movie speakers!
I bought these to connect to use with my brand new home theater PC. I was using just the TV speakers before. And I have to say these speakers really make me feel like I'm at the theater. Keep in mind I did have to tune them to make them sound just right. I left my settings below for anyone that wants to try them out. And for the sound profile I left them on monitor. For the volume these get extremely loud, with amazing bass. You are able to hear all the instruments in a song as nothing gets muddy out. It's also very easy to use the controls on the speakers. Hold the volume knob to turn the speakers on and off. Rotate it to adjust the volume. Press the knob like a button to switch audio modes. You can swap between music "green", monitor "red", and the custom sound profile "white". The app is amazing, very easy to connect to the speakers using Bluetooth. Theres a button on the back that you have to press. For it to begin paring. The light will flash blue till you've paired your computer or phone. One you are in the app you can use it as a volume remote. Adjusting the speakers without having to turn the knob. Then you can set the equalizer as well as make multiple sound profiles. Making these speakers very versatile. These speakers have great functionality as I was able to hook them into ediifers T5 subwoofer. To get it to work since it doesn't have a subwoofer hook up. You plug the speakers directly into the subwoofer. And from the subwoofer you plug it into the device that you want to have the sound come from. Which in my case was my home theater PC. All in all, I highly recommend these speakers to anyone's that's been thinking about getting them. Get them, they look amazing, sound amazing and you wouldn't want anything else after having them.

Excelent
Amazing speakers. Very easy to hook up, sound quality is incredibly crisp and clear, the bass is boomy but not too much so, using the app to control the volume is convenient and hooking up the bluetooth is easy. Ive seen sound bars go for around the same price as these and these are a much better value. Only downside is there is only one rca hook up, so you will be swapping wires around if you want to use it for more than one device and dont get a stereo reciever to go with it. The treble and bass knobs on the back are nice but might be hard to reach if you want to put these in an entertainment center. For my set up theyre convenient though and offer a good fine tuning option.

Amazing sound and quality for the price, BT connection issues
My first pair of BT stereo speakers bought them for my MBP and new desk but man these speakers are seriously nice. I am a self proclaimed audiophile have a really nice home setup, NAD Amp, Dynaudio speakers etc and when I fired these up for the first time a couple of days ago I was and am impressed. Read all the high end stereo online reviews and so glad I went with these but they are more than just your hi end computer speakers these are serious Audi devices. Highly recommend and could not be happier with my purchase they come with all cables and are easy to pair. UPDATE- After having these for month now I wanted to share my experience. - Sound is fantastic, be sure and enable LDAC on your phone, computer whatever you are transmitting with and as high a bitrate as you can in the app. - Bluetooth is VERY flaky we MR5 owners need a BT update. Works fine when paired but if I stop streaming and change BT endpoint or make any changes etc I have to unpair and re-pair the speakers to my phone. It will show connected but won't stream music or sound, tried it with Samsung S24U and iPhone 17 and it is definitely an issue that needs addressed. Restarting phones doesn't help, still shows connected just fine but no sound. Go to BT settings and unpair and put the MR5 in BT discovery mode again, pair and enable LDAC on phone and they work fine until next time. - There are 3 BT channel lights, white, green and red doesn't matter which you are on they still stop streaming sound under most circumstances I previously mentioned.

Great Monitors For Videographers
I'm really impressed with how great these monitors are. As a videographer, I edit a lot of interviews, speeches, promos and commercials and for the price, these monitors have a pretty flat EQ with lots of room for adjustments. I love the copper accents and kind of wish I had bought the white speakers to offset my dark and moody studio. The phone app is pretty cool. My only gripe is when I watch something on my phone I have to make sure the monitors are off or the sound comes through on these speakers, which is fine if you want that.

Very good for the price range.
I ordered these to listen to music on my PC to replace a 25 year old Logitech set. I also ordered a Fosi ZH3 DAC and XLR cables. Using a USB 2.0 to USB C cable and set Windows output to 32 bit 384kHz. Obviously, an improvement over the old speakers. Amazon Music Unlimited had a 3 month free trial so right now I am enjoying their selection of ultra HD stuff. I am not an audiophile, but these sound very good at low to medium volumes. I'm sitting equidistant from the speakers placed on either side of my monitor toed in. I'm hearing instruments and placement I've never heard before, they are amazing. I have a large 7.1 setup in the living room, but these are small and fun and personal. Highly recommend, especially on sale. If you want loud and boomy and the classic rock EQ curve perhaps look elsewhere. For smaller rooms these are plenty adequate. The only thing keeping me from buying the Edifier MR7's with an 8" woofer is that they don't make them : )

Excellent, crystal clear and expansive sound out of the box.
Outstanding, crystal clear sound. Painless to set up. These speakers are probably overkill for what I wanted...desktop speakers for listening to music at my computer...but I'm glad I spent the extra money for these. With a 3rd party EQ set up on your PC/Mac, you can get even more out of them, which I did but isn't necessary. They really sound excellent out of the box. I just like more flexibility depending on what I'm listening to. I'm blown away by the clarity and balance between frequency signals. Bass is rich and I can't imagine needing to add a subwoofer. The Edifier app leaves much to be desired, in my opinion. But it's not really needed either, especially if you already have an EQ interface set up on your computer.

Beautiful speakers and amazing sound very well built!
These speakers sound amazing. Rich deep bass response that still hold that snappy response even at high volume. The multiple style of input including Bluetooth is great. The look is very nice in either the black or the white. These were purchased for my keyboards so I donโt have to always wear headphones, but I will definitely be purchasing another set for my living room.

Worth the money
Tried these out just to compare them with another option, and even though they were double in price what the other similar speakers were they sound so fantastic I couldnโt say no! So good!!!

These Edifier MR5 Speakers Blew Me Away โ (White Version)
WOW! What my Audiophile ears wanted, at a price worth paying! It even inspired my first ever Amazon video review. Be kind, I will improve (clearly!)! Check it out! ๐ฅทDataNinja TL;DR, what you need to know: Just buy them now, you will love them as long as you can make the space for them. They arenโt and are objectively the largest โcomputer speakersโ Iโve ever owned. Wired to my Mac mini, they sprayed every note and sound in 360 degree and tonal ways that I have never experienced in this weight class of powered desktop speakers. Also my first white forward facing sound equipment which earned me much needed WAF (Wife Approval Factor) - I should say Queen - because she is my 26+ year royal love. And no, I may feel like a King but I do support #NOKINGS2026 - Iโm a DataNinja โKingโ. Thereโs a difference. ๐ ๐ฅทMore Review Preamble: (Iโm a talker & I know it!) To say Iโve been through my share of desktop speakers over the years is an understatement. There is no other sub $1K purchase I analyze and agonize over most than the cans over my ears, buds inside them, or speakers to each side of them. I plan on spinning up my Audio Data Ninja content in Q2, and I wanted the reference monitor pluses with a soundstage that would deliver low key listening pleasure, and do the lower BASS ends some justice when sitting in front of my data and AI work hard, play hard, office #dataninja battle station. ๐ฅท First Impressions Nothing prepared me for how good the Edifier MR5 active studio monitors sound right out of the box. These are a game-changer (really, they are) for anyone who works, games, produces, or just loves high-quality music on their desk. Even my wife approvedโฆand my 13 year old Dachshund! (See the video for a cameo from Daisy duke!) I love dogsโฆ First off, the unboxing experience sets the tone. They arrive well-protected in plastic with fragile-care wrapping, and the build quality is immediately obvious. Solid MDF cabinets that feel premium and reduce resonance beautifully. I went with the white version, and they look sleek and modern next to my monitor and keyboard setup. The rose-gold/copper accents on the drivers add a nice touch of elegance. Size matters โ but they are not small and they are heavy!! and these. Hoping the video and pic with the S.Pellegrino bottle helps with scale. I could have grabbed a bottle of Portuguese wine but didnโt want anyone to think I was pushing alcohol consumption. I drink plenty of zero (beer) and lots of H2O, though you will find me on Vivino if you search. But I digressโฆ ๐ฅท So did they really impress me (+ Shania) much? So yeah, these puppies have serious DataNinja presence. Thatโs thanks to the thoughtful 3-way design: a 5" long-throw woofer (hidden but powerful), a 3.75" mid driver, and a 1" silk dome tweeter. The result? A frequency response from 46Hz all the way up to 40kHz, with 110W RMS total power (tri-amped for clean, dedicated performance per driver) and up to 101dB peak SPL. At max I heard no distortion, save for some low freq base reverb as they were sitting on an undampened desk surface. But at normal listening near field or max volume far field, you probably wonโt notice it or care. I notice it, but I care. Usually too much. I didnโt expect it to be all about the bassโฆbut my lord, it was the standout feature for me. I was not expecting chest thumping resonance, and while itโs not at the level of my home theatre setup, itโs 80% great!! Rich, punchy, and unbelievingly deep for the cabinet size. Tight and controlled and not pretentiously boomy or muddy. It adds weight and impact to everything from pop tracks to electronic music or movie soundtracks. Mids are vibrant yet neutral, and the highs are crystal clear with excellent detail and sparkle. Listening to Taylor Swiftโs โOpheliaโ (as featured in the video), the vocals shine through with air and presence, percussion has snap, and the overall soundstage feels wide and immersive for near-field listening. ๐ฅท Do they play nice? They play super nice. Connectivity is fire for a desk setup. Nothing mid about these. Bluetooth 6.0 with LDAC support for high-res wireless streaming (sounds fantastic from my phone or laptop). No lag!!!!! Wow! - Balanced XLR/TRS, RCA, and AUX inputs. Even a headphone jack on the front. - Physical knobs for volume, high/low adjustments, and mode switching (Monitor for flat response, Music for more fun). - The Edifier ConneX app takes it further with room compensation presets, EQ, and fine-tuning to match your space. super useful if your desk is near a wall like mine is. ๐ฅทThe Final Word Are they really the โbest PC speakers Iโve owned for the priceโ). Yes. And it isnโt even close. They transformed my Mac Mini setup into something that feels far more premium. Nuances and considerations: itโs day 2 for me. I will circle back Day 30, but I donโt expect to think differently. Whatโs bad? They are way larger than ultra-compact options (deeper cabinet due to the internal woofer), so measure your desk space. Placement also matters for optimal bass. They will benefit from a bit of breathing room and I need to figure that out and โmanufactureโ some space. No sub out, but if you need that the check out AudioEngineโs A2โs. You likely already are and wouldnโt be reading this. At around $350 in ๐จ๐ฆ(depending on sales), these punch way above their weight. They compete with monitors costing significantly more while adding convenient Bluetooth and app control. Whether youโre mixing tracks, editing video, gaming, or enjoying pop, rock, or hi-res audio, the MR5 deliver studio-grade accuracy with enjoyable musicality. ๐ฅทDeal or no Deal Highly recommended and my new daily drivers and active speaker premium + value pick. If youโre on the fence, watch a good unboxing/setup video (the size comparison and real-world listening clips are spot-on). You wonโt regret it. 5/5 stars. Would buy again? Absolutely. These are staying on my desk. ๐ฅทWhy should you trust me? 25+ years in the SAP and 50+ other ERP, Data Management spaces. The most techie person everyone I know knows, engineer, technologist, passionate always, but especially about the tech I love and use, the music that moves me, and things I have an strong opinion on. Itโs a long list. ๐ฅทWhy Amazon needs to throw me a Vine invite? I was one of the first 100 Amazon users in Canada to buy more than 30 items in a month, at a time when there were maybe 200 things worth buying. Early days. Iโve also been online since I was 11 years old and was the first person in Canada to be awarded a cash prize for winning a nation wide blogging contest in 2010. Easiest $1000 I made, and if it had not taken 15 years after that to diagnose me with ADHD, I would have kept blogging and been in a different place today, but I am starting anew NOW, Q2 of 2026. Closing in on 24k followers (I knowโฆwhat a n0b) on LinkedIn, other socials to follow! ๐ฅทStill here (and not my Dad or Mom?) Follow Pedro the Data Ninja on LinkedIn. Soon elsewhere and even YouTube. This is getting serious. lol

Finally! Truly endgame PC speakers.
I bought the Edifier R1280T in 2016 for my PC and then the R1280Ts a little while later for music in my kitchen while cooking as they were just so darn good - especially considering the price back then was only $90! I have been enjoying those speakers for a decade they couldn't resolve the detail that my Topping E30 II / L30 II stack I bought in 2022 can put out. Since 2022 I have periodically looked for some possible endgame speakers specifically without a dedicated subwoofer as I don't like how they sound. The MR5 contain a separate long throw woofer from the regular woofer which separates the bass and the mids to their own woofers which provides better vocals and overall clarity of audio while still delivering clean bass that is punchy enough to feel but doesn't step on the mids like standalone subwoofers tend to do in my experience. Finally, this tri-amped design is exactly what I had been looking for over the past four years. I was so shocked that they made the exact speaker I had been dreaming of but hadn't been able to find and they were on sale so I bought them after watching/reading at least 10 glowing reviews of them. I can tell you with confidence after having them for long enough to put them through the paces that these are truly my endgame PC speakers. They are articulate while delivering clean yet substantial bass that lies right in that sweet spot that I love where you can feel it but it isn't muddy in the least and steps on nothing. I have been floored about how good these speakers are and, especially these days, for the price I got them for they were an absolute steal as I truly believe they are worth every penny of the full MSRP. They sound amazing with every genre I have thrown at them. I have listened to so many genres that it makes more sense to just name what I don't like which is pop and rap but pretty much everything else has been listened to while I do like old school underground hip hop which could be representative of how rap would sound. Seriously, everything I have played on these speakers sound exactly how I hoped the perfect desktop speakers for my PC would. I also have them on a 15-degree angle which makes the sound significantly better as well. They also have BT 6.0, upgradeable firmware, and an app that has a lot of settings like low end bass hz cutoff, desktop acoustic compensation, and more make these really cool. The fact that they have built in EQ functionality that goes further than the regular standard EQ settings you see with most sound devices all controlled by the app and saved right onto the speaker firmware is great. I haven't had the need to EQ any of my speakers or headphones although I have dabbled with Equalizer APO with Peace so I can say that the vast majority of EQ functionality can be done naively without needing PC software or DAC functionality. I have always eschewed BT as the sound has been significantly inferior to wired with a half decent DAC for so long now. However, I did try the BT 6.0 on these with LDAC enabled using my S22 Ultra and they sound way better than I anticipated. I still prefer the sound of my wired audio stack but that's $400 worth of extra hardware so of course it is going to sound better. That being said, I would listen to these speakers using BT/LDAC if they weren't connected to my PC and be quite happy which means they're great even for a setup that's just the speakers and nothing else. Although, I do have some complaints but they can be resolved through app and firmware updates which means they should be solved at some point in the future as I have contacted their support and requested them. The first thing I noticed when using the app to setup the settings is that there is no way to customise the auto shut off time so it is either enabled at 15 minutes or off while only a BT sound source can auto wake them so the feature wasn't thought out and implemented very well at all. Also, there is no option for the speakers to not automatically connect to paired devices when they turn on and since I like to have BT always on with my phone for wireless bud conversations every time the speakers turn on they connect to my phone and I have disconnect them manually every time. Also, since I use RCA to DAC and not BT my PC playing sound won't auto wake them up after they have shut off while you can't customise the auto off time and 15 minutes is way too short. The only options I have now is either turn BT off on my phone when the speakers turn on (which would be a nightmare if I had auto off enabled) or repair them every time I want to change settings. These aren't huge deals but they are just dysfunctional enough that these features are obviously an afterthought rather than well thought out features. Considering these speakers don't have a remote to control these functions it means that app and BT connection is kind of required but as it stands it's more of an annoyance rather than a solid feature so I hope they implement the following to make these truly the best PC speakers ever. 1. The auto shutoff time needs to be customisable so the speakers don't continually shut off every 15 minutes with no sound - the time should be able to be tailored to the userโs preferences. 2. There needs to be a BT auto connect toggle so that the user has the option to either have devices auto connect over BT when the speakers turn on or a manual mode where the user has to connect their device to the speakers when they want to use the app. This should be a simple implementation of auto broadcasting they're available for BT connection or not when powered on. 3. If possible, there should be an auto on, just like with BT sound, when audio is detected from RCA so PC users don't have to continually turn their speakers back on if auto shutoff is enabled - especially while there is no option to change the time as 15 minutes is simply to short. If I was able to set the time maybe to somewhere between 30-60 minutes that I could have auto off enabled when using them with RCA on the PC and not over BT. That being said, the ability to change the time shouldn't be too limited so a value, in minutes, from 1-720 (or1440) should be user definable. These issues are annoying and seem like they should have been dealt with before the release of the speakers but they are in no way deal breakers whatsoever - especially since they can easily be addressed through app and firmware updates. I truly believe Edifier needs to implement these changes and I really hope they do. TL;DR These are the exact speakers I have sought out for 4 years and they're finally here due to the tri-amped design separating the bass from the mids so it can deliver fantastic bass that doesn't step on the mids and highs without a dedicated subwoofer - especially when paired wit a decent DAC. The smart features such as BT 6 and onboard EQ settings are quite nice although lacking a few essential features at the moment that cause some functionality annoyance. However, since there is upgradeable firmware and an app to customise the on-speaker settings these minor issues could be solved quite easily. Conclusion: As it stands, the Edifier MR5 is a solid 9/10 and if the features mentioned above are implemented then they will be a perfect 10/10 - they knocked it out of the ballpark with this one for sure.

Perfect home office speakers
Got these for my home office. I love them. They look great - the first thing my wife said when she saw them was "Wow, those are really great looking speakers." Super easy setup with the bluetooth - the only wire is the power plug, and pairing them was seamless. Easiest install of new equipment ever. And the the sound is fantastic. I mostly listen to Americana - bluegrass, gospel, a lot of female vocals - and the three way speakers give beautiful clear vocals and at the same time you can really hear that upright bass. A steal at the price. Super happy with this purchase.
