New Balance Unisex-Child 990 V3 Sneaker

I originally purchased the same shoe but with the velcro instead of the laces. I was dissapointed that the velcro was no long enough so I returned the velcro shoes and purchased these shoes in their place and I am very happy this happened! My son is very active and I cannot believe how well these shoes stood up to the challenge. My son wears these shoes a minimum of 5 days a week and I can't believe they are still in exceptional condition; no fraying, the color is still brilliant, the shoes clean up well, the fit is still good, and the toes show very little sign of wear. I am a huge fan of these shoes and purchased another pair in a larger size since my son is growing out of these shoes.

Great shoes. New Balance is one of the few brands that offer XW in the larger kids sizes. Both my boys have wide feet and high insteps so they absolutely need the XW. My older son who is 10 years old and Autistic wears a 5XW in these. I only wished they offered the Velcro in the bigger boys sizes. They wear okay but my son is very tough on shoes because of how he walks. If we buy him cheap Payless shoe source shoes they last him like a week if that. If we buy him these, we get about 3 or 4 months out of them before they get in really rough shape and need to be replaced. These wore better than the SAUCONY ones we bought him once a while back. We used to get Stride Rite but selections in his size seem even more limited now. The best shoe we can find for him at this point. Still waiting to find a shoe that is truly "William Tough" though. That's my son. ha. Definitely a great option for those with XW feet though.

They lasted a while before they became play shoes. Good color and fit. Willmatch with anything.

I will say that some of the shoes- such as this one and the limited editions- I have found are cut a little wide. I am a size 6 boys all day everyday in New Balance and Nike but these are a tad wide which means my foot leans to the side because my feet are narrow (and one is smaller than the other). I love them though and i can tie them tighter and they look and feel great. It also means that I can fit my orthotics in my shoes comfortably. I love these and will buy them in other colors in the near future. I mentioned the width in case you don't like tying your shoes tight because then these might not be a good fit unless you can get them in a narrow and yes i got medium not wide: i never purchase a wide or narrow sneaker.

Love, love, love these shoes. They are so cute. The grey keeps them neutral, yet the pink makes them feminine. Plus, the velcro is essential for my toddler who insists on taking off her own shoes. They seem to be comfortable (thank goodness for half sizes). I put them on my toddler and she has been running around confidently. They don't seem to bother her one bit. The only thing I recommend is to get the wide width, even if your toddler doesn't have wide feet. I followed the recommendations of past reviews and purchased wide fit and I am so glad I did. They would not have fit if I bought standard width. The velcro is only at the end of the strap, so it has to stretch across the whole shoe to connect. Other than that, it's a quality shoe. I'm glad I splurged.

Quality of the shoes is great. The challenge is they are a bit tight. I have to make a focused and strong effort topush the tongue of the shoe in a straight position in order to pull the closure over the shoe bridge and velcro it.They are a bit narrow for my daughter's feet. If ordered again, I would go for the 9W over a regular 9.They are comfortable but my 4 yrs old can not put on by herself b/c of the effort to velcro the shoe correctly.

Don't waste your money on the lightweight foam New Balance shoes that have the designs printed on them -- these shoes are SO MUCH BETTER! This pair of shoes comes in a variety of size for toddlers on up and we know our child is hard on shoes but requires good stability and support. This pair of navy blue shoes feature some suede that I believe makes them hold up much longer, are warmer in winter, and can take a splash in the rain without becoming a seive. These shoes have sturdy construction and non-marking soles and provide good support. They are stylish, easy to brush off the dirt and have the old fashioned wide shoelaces that actually stay tied and knotted for most of the day for our kindergartner. We both love them, as we did during the toddler years with the velcro straps. Luckily, this style shoe comes in a variety of colors so we will keep buying them. (The foam uppers on the last pair disintegrated and fell apart in about 7 weeks and could not take on a bit of rain without causing wet socks in seconds.)

I needed LACE UP tennis shoes for my son, because he will not leave shoes on his feet. Do you know how difficult it is to find lace up shoes in a size 5 infant/toddler without paying a ridiculous price? We found these on sale. Otherwise, I would not have paid for this kind of shoe for an18 month old who will grow out of them in just a couple of months. That being said... I will buy New Balance for my son every time they go on a significant sale because they fit perfectly, they look adorable and he keeps them on his feet! He was measured at Stride Rite to be a size 5. I have found that shoe sizes are all over the place. I previously ordered a pair of brown leather lace up casual shoes size 5 and when they arrived they might as well have been a size 7. So, when I ordered these NB I had my fingers crossed. NB is true to size! No guess work. Thank you New Balance!
