The possible incompatibility with British electrical installations and equipment.
Regrettably, I hadn't realised that the origin of the product (USA) meant that it used a two twin plug, seemingly unsuitable for British sockets and adaptors. Despite a search, in my vicinity, for a usable adaptor and consulting an electrician, I have been unable to use the radio cassette player, because of its incompatibility. I have now been obliged to purchase, on-line, a suitable convertor/adaptor, enabling me, finally, to connect the machine to a supply of electricity. My single trial of the radio left me slightly disappointed in the sound quality. I have yet to try other locations for the radio and to test the recording and replay facilities.

I don't believe SONY makes these archaic cassette plyr./recorder radios anymore - - - based on the ridiculous high price a new one costs. That said, I'm glad to have been able to find one.

I read the previous post from the customer in New Jersey. I am unsure if the item was defective, but I can tell you, I am quite happy with my little portable radio. It serves its purpose and I dont have unrealistic expectations of it as if the item were a boom box type.
