I tried to feed them through the car but the straps would not reach, nor have the correct male/female connector configuration. **Q: Could this be fitted to a trailer with a lid?** A: Can’t see any reason why not providing the lid has some tie down points. It is quite robust, I have been using it for a year now in the back of a pick up with no signs of wear and no leaking. I would buy again. **Q: I’m travelling on a ferry - maximum car height 2 metres - can I adjust the height of the bag? Ideally I’d want it to be 35cm in height.** A: The bag is just a bag, if empty, a few cms thick. It depends what you load in it how big it ends up. Basically if you are going on a ferry, unload it into car just for embarking, disembarking and just be a bit hemmed in for a while. I will say, it's a great roof bag **Q: Does this work with handi rack ?** A: It will work with anything... I'm pleased to report this fit the bill perfectly. I also used 3 separately purchased ratchet straps for peace of mind and everthing stayed solid as a rock throughout.
