## Description

desertcart.co.jp: Continental Grand Prix 5000 Performance Bike Tire - Set of 2 : Sports & Outdoors

Review: Very good tire.
Review: Continental GP 5000TL 700x28c Additional note: After 1,000 miles the tires show very little wear so I increased the rating to five stars. I've also settled on 75 psi front/80 psi rear. This review would have been five stars if I had more experience with tire mileage. With only 300 miles on the tires I can’t comment on expected tire life. I can say the rear tire mold flash has finally worn off while the front tire still has some mold flash. My neighbor also changed from Hutchinson Sector 28 to the Continentals and agrees with my findings. The following comparison is between the GP 5000TL tires and Hutchinson Sector 28 tires. These are the only two tubeless tires I’ve ridden on. Riding Experience 1. Quieter. While bike tires aren’t especially noisy, the Continental tires were noticeably quieter. 2. Smoother ride. The Hutchinsons were harsh over the very bumpy roads in my area. The Continental tires are much smoother. I have an annoying rattle from the Di2 components that was very harsh over bumps and alligator pavement. With the Continentals the noise is much less and not nearly as annoying. 3. Somewhat more stable. The Continentals exhibit a bit less road steer and are a bit more stable over uneven pavement. Not a big difference but still noticeable. 4. Less rolling resistance. I have no way to measure this characteristic, but the Continentals seems to offer less rolling resistance. Judging from some hill climbs, I would judge the effect to be perhaps a half-gear improvement. Determining any improvement in rolling resistance is difficult without proper equipment (plus not knowing which legs will show up. Sometimes it’s the used-to-be-36-year-old legs. Sometimes it’s the you-really-are-getting-old-73-year-old legs. And sometimes it’s the Ghost of Cycling Future 85-year-old legs.) but the pedaling effort does seem to be less. Mounting Comments Three out of four tires seated with a hand pump. One tire needed an air compressor the first time. I found the following process to work well: 1. Mount and inflate the tire without sealant. 2. Deflate the tire. 3. With the tire valve at 4:00 or 8:00 dismount about six inches of the tire at the bottom, enough to easily insert the sealant. 4. Using Stan’s “The Injector” or a similar device, inject 35ml sealant (I use Stan’s Race sealant) into the open part of the tire. 5. Slowly rotate the tire so the open part is at the top. Valve should be at 10:00 or 2:00. 6. Remount the tire and reinflate. 7. Spin the tire per instructions to distribute the sealant. 8. Go for a ride to complete the seating and sealing process. Tire Pressure Combined weight of rider and bike = 182 lbs. I started with 85/F and 90/R and worked my way down to 70/F 75/R. Those pressures give me the best combination of ride comfort and pedaling effort. Pressures above 70/F made the front tire much too bouncy. My neighbor (10 lbs. heavier) uses 75 for both tires. Tire Circumference Continental indicates a tire circumference of 2155 for the 700x28c. My measurement showed a circumference of 2142. Comments I’m not claiming that the Continental GP 5000TL tires make the bike ride like a Bentley and handle like a Ferrari (I’ve never ridden in a Bentley or driven a Ferrari) but they are very impressive tires. And if you are still debating going tubeless, my experience with almost 5,000 miles on tubeless tires has been very positive. With the few flats I’ve had, the tires always sealed and I was able to ride home safely.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are these more puncture resistant than the very popular Continental Gatorskins?**
A: All you have to do is look at the Continental web site. The "5000" is a very fast tire with "good" puncture protection. The Gaterskin is a slower tire with outstanding puncture protection. While the "gaterskin hardshell" is their top of the line in puncture protection. You trade speed and weight for puncture protection. It is a trade off. The fastest tires have half the protection, but also half the rolling resistance. Speed, punture resistance and ride comfort also depend on if you have 25mm or 32mm and the amount of pressure you use You can trade off one thing for another.

**Q: Its Tubeless? Tks**
A: No not tubeless, box for Tubeless say TL

**Q: Those are road bike not BMX?**
A: They are road bike

**Q: Son las 2 llantas por us 89?**
A: Si las dos llantas por ese valor + Iva
