Would you say this is travel size?

It is very much travel size. However, I would not recommend playing with it on a plane or traveling in the car. Traveling with it packed and played in a different location works well. But my daughter drops pieces and trying to find them in the car or plane would be obnoxious.

Why does this peg board have 30 pegs and only 25 holes? I find this to be irrational and annoying. Couldn't spring for manufacturing and extra row?

Hi the peg toddler toy is not just a 1 layer/ 2D toy, it allows children to stack the pegs to form 3D towers. If a child is playing by themselves and they see that they have filled all the holes but still have pegs left, this gives them the opportunity for self discovery, critical thinking, trial and error to what other possibilities are available. For this age this can serve as beginning STEM toys for toddlers. It is by design to aid in toddler learning.
