Great value for the money
Excellent product. Well built. Great price. Put it directly after your distortion pedal for best results.

Does the job, doesn't cost a lot
This works as well as any noise gate I've used, and better than some. I tested this out with my noisiest guitar with P90 pickups and it can gate anywhere from barely audible hiss to the whole instrument despite hard playing. When maxed, even really hot pickups can't punch through the gate at all. I've had noise gates that won't clamp down this hard so even when maxed you can play through them, but this takes it far enough to effectively be a full mute. It can certainly be used to lower your noise floor. It could probably be used creatively to shape your sound, but I haven't found a place where that works for me. Maybe behind a looper as a way to taper off looping in a different way. Hardware wise, it's true bypass and has a generic mini pedal shell. It has a rubber bottom with a sticker on the rubber. Rubber doesn't hold stickers well, and if you put hook tape on rubber, you get hook tape sticking to something else and the pedal dangling from the patch cords. That's bad for mini pedals that pretty much need to be stuck to a board. You can flip the bottom plate, but the rubber is too big and doesn't tuck inside, so the plate bulges slightly. I've attached a picture so you can see that the plate is "OK" but doesn't quite sit flush. You can see that the plate is inside the case walls on the ends, and bulging out in the middle. Prying off the rubber foot is a major pain unless you apply heat or the like. Of course none of that matters if you aren't using hook and loop tape to attach this to a pedal board. Would I use this at home for practice or recording? Yes. Would use it for local gigs? Sure, because if it get stolen it will hurt less than a more expensive pedal. As long as you have an available power drop, this is a cheap addition that serves a purpose. But I'm a careful person, and rarely break things, and even I would have some concerns. If I didn't want to be bothered with being careful all the time, or was doing anything more professional or critical, I would not buy this. It works fine, but it's not built for rough use. Even for "just in case" or gifting to a friend with a noisy rig, I think I'd prefer something self-powered. The reviewer who talked about the quality of the switch isn't wrong. I'll be amazed if it breaks for me, but it wouldn't last a day in some environments. Overall, I think if you are fighting noise in your signal chain and want to just clamp it down in quiet passages, or you just want to see if a noise gate improves your sound, this is a good starting point. Oh, and despite what the listing says, it is NOT a tuner. I know that's just a sloppy listing, but inaccurate listings should be called out.

Basic noise gate that works fine
I already have several effects pedals of this type so it was a simple addition to the stack. It does exactly what you expect a noise gate to do without any frills. You just set the attack to either fast or soft with the two position switch and then adjust the threshold. Plain and simple and effective.

Very sturdy, easy to adjust, very "Set and forget it"
If you know me, you know I've been through my fair share of guitar effects pedals sold here on Amazon, and usually don't have many kind words for them, but I've so far been very pleasantly surprised with this brand. For reference, I accidentally requested two different pedals, which with the way the Amazon Vine Voice program is set up, means I can only write a single review. So, this is for both tape delay and noise gate pedals. That being said, both pedals are very compact and shockingly sturdy, almost as if they were meant to be placed on a pedal board where they could be kicked around, stomped on during a live show, and survive some wear and tear. Yes, I'm being a bit of a smart arse, but you'd be amazed at how few products in this business are built to last the UPS truck, let alone a live gig. Both the noise gate pedal and tape delay are extremely easy to use, worked right away on my daisy chain power supply without any issues. I tested them by themselves and as part of my FX chain, and couldn't find any detectable noise being introduced along the chain (which, you know, for a noise gate, that's a very important quality). Moreover, the noise gate finally solved a ground loop issue I've been having on my vintage Fender strat from where the previous owner had reversed the polarity, causing massive ground noise when you touch, but do not strum, the strings. So, consider me a very pleasantly surprised and very satisfied customer. I'm going to experiment more with the tape delay and see how it works with my synths (namely my AX Edge and Roland AE-20 wind synth), but, that's a bit beyond the purview of this review I think :)

Good for the price but not great in general
If you play high-gain pedals or amps in general, this small pedal could do the trick to keep things hiss-free. It's good at clamping down on obvious high noise floor situations, but it's not as great when it comes to the low-mid noise. To be fair, many noise gates have the same trouble, but this one seems a bit worse in that regard. Still, for the very low price point, it gets the job done in the most basic sense.

It works
My home system isn't inherently noisy but I took this on the road and cranked some gain and did get some crackle and feedback. Can confirm, this gate does work. If you turn it all the way up, you lose the whole signal. Use judiciously.

Great budget noise gate!
It works pretty well. Obviously not going to make any top 10 lists, but it's fine. I play on a worship team at a small church, and the sound guys can't be trusted with the mute button. For my purposes, I'm using this mainly as a mute pedal, but with certain more noisy pedal configurations, it also works great to keep the noise down when I'm not playing. Which is the key thing to know. A noisy signal will still come across noisy when you play. This isn't some kind of AI signal de-noiser, it's a gate. Triggered by signal strength. Or something like that. It has a Hard and Soft toggle, which is nice to have, but I'd prefer a bit more control. The threshold knob is great, and has a wide range. You can tune out that noise pretty precisely, or just use it as a mute pedal. Overall, it's a great budget solution if you don't really care about getting the best out there. It's functional and priced well. And it looks pretty neat too. ;)

Works exactly as it’s supposed to and does it well.
I have always had a noise gate on pretty much on every single one of my pedal boards that I’ve ever used. They are just such a necessity for keeping down hum when there’s no signal coming through. This pedal from AFOT does the job perfectly. It was very easy to dial-in and I really like having the soft knee (slow attack) option as that’s a lot less abrupt than just a hard switch. Not only does this come in at a great price, I really like the smaller pedal footprint as I’m using it on a smaller board that I put together. In fact, I’ve been using that board now for over a month and this thing has done a great job during rehearsal and at the three gigs, we’ve had. No issues whatsoever.
