Compact, powerful, easy to pick up
The ACMER S1 Laser Engraver (6000mW) has been an excellent learning tool for our family. It’s a great way to get started with laser engraving without a large or complicated setup. My teen picked it up quickly, especially with prior 3D printing experience. The workflow felt familiar, and he was able to start engraving confidently in a short time. The machine is compact, portable, and accurate, producing clean and consistent results on wood. Overall, it offers a nice balance of ease of use and performance. I’d highly recommend it for beginners, students, or anyone looking to learn laser engraving.

Great value for the price
Setup was quick and easy, and within minutes I was engraving designs on wood and acrylic. The 6W power is more than enough for detailed projects, and the results are sharp and precise. I’ve used it on leather and plastic too, and the engravings look professional. The compact size makes it perfect for my small workspace, but it’s still powerful enough for all my DIY craft projects.

Wasn't completely level, user error
Overall it's a great little engraver. My only wishes would be it had leg holes to add legs for a roller or larger projects and that the cords were in the back but I'm creative so I can work around those minor things. Easy set up and personally I didn't find a huge learning curve. Spent a couple hours playing around before I got into my 1st project and I am pleased with the results. I would suggest this for someone who is interested in getting started as a hobby or a small side hustle

Good value
I made everyone personalized pens for Christmas. This was easy to set up and works with free open source software. I'm set up on Windows 11. The only thing that took me a few minutes was to correctly set the specific com Port I was plugged into with the USB. I ended up on com 6 and the default was com 3. To facilitate engraving pens, I took a piece of scrap board and routed a shallow groove to position the pen. I stuck 8 rubber bumpers to keep the engraver from moving around once set up. It was easy to get text and drawings into a PNP or JPG file into size it correctly for personalization. It's a 6-watt laser but I'm currently set at just 20%. I'll be trying this another project soon.

Not that easy to use; doesn't work on metal; laser stopped working.
First off, the description says that the laser works on metal. This is flat-out false advertising. After trying it, seeing it not working, and doing some research, the 6W laser is not powerful enough to engrave steel or aluminum (20W is recommended for anodized aluminum). Second, the laser stopped working within a couple days of buying the device. Third, while not as difficult to set up as some have suggested, it does rely on third-party open source software, with many of the typical user-friendliness issues that entails. You'll need to do some googling to get it working, and it won't engrave .svg files without some tinkering. If you decently computer-savvy it's fine, but if you're not comfortable with troubleshoot software issues this is going to be a struggle for you.

It's worth it.
This thing is freaking awesome! I've never used a laser engraver before and I was making my first items within minutes. I used the engraver to cut a jig for perfect alignment every time. The accuracy and detail are insane for a $150 "gadget". Get it; it's cheap af and it's awesome.

Difficult to figure out how to work, calibration is always off. Not worth the money. I've been trying to get this product to calibrate, and it's always off on one side. I missed the 'return window' by ONE day. :(
