Rosacea sufferers - give this a try!
I usually don't write reviews but I felt strongly about letting others know about this one... had bad rosacea after finishing nursing the baby. It is all hormone related. Happened to me twice after breastfeeding. First time I went to the dermatologist and the stuff she prescribed was making me worse! I was so upset. I was trying to avoid any prescriptions and would just put makeup to cover up. This time I tried honey and other cleansers and was willing to forgo the Rx and pray it would go away. After further research, I came across this product and thought to give it a try. The amount of azelaic acid must be the perfect amount for doing the job to remove the bumps but no so strong as what a dermatologist would prescribe that will cause sensitive skin to get worse. I am satisfied with this purchase. I was more concerned with lessening the bumps then the redness and it is doing just that. Goes on smoothly and is light weight. Doesn't feel like a medicine cream.

Works for melasma
While a little pricy, its worth it. I am a natural redhead and have had 6 children. I am not 45 and I have melasma really bad. It has gone from just my forehead to my cheeks now. I ordered this and have been using it for about a week and the color has already faded 2 shades. I feel more confident without makeup, my skin feels amazing. After it has completely soaked in and dried, I follow it up with a very thin layer of pure MCT coconut oil. Very much worth the price.

Great for acne and redness
I forgot to take before pics, but I love this! My skin is red on my cheeks and nose and I also have some acne. I’ve been using this for a week and just started seeing some results. My face is less red and my acne is clearing up. I love this stuff so much

Just as good as prescription gel
I have had rosacea for many years. I used to use a prescription called finacea gel to control my rosacea. It worked pretty well but required a dermatologist visit every time I finished a tube. It was a hassle. Then I found Paula's Choice. The level of azelaic acid in Paula's Choice is similar to that of the prescription gel. I decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised. It works just as well and was easier to purchase because it doesn't require a prescription. The only downside is that it's expensive. I would give it 5 stars if it was more affordable.

Changed My Skin & Life!
I question why I didn’t get this product sooner in my life. Seriously. This product has made such a positive change in my skin - I feel like crying. While I have never been officially diagnosed, I’ve always felt that I have a type of rosacea. I don’t get pustules, zits or anything like that (unless I consume a lot of certain sugary drinks, and food) but for as long as I can remember, my face has always dealt with redness. Yes, certain things such as consuming sugar triggers it and makes it worse. I’ve been using skincare since my mid 20s. I am currently in my early 30s. I feel for the most part I was using products that were benefiting my skin, but as far as the redness went, nothing I used seemed to treat it. Around a year ago, I heard about how azelaic acid can be beneficial to people who have rosacea - treating redness and the pustules that go with it. So while I was aware of it, I just kept putting off purchasing it. Life stuff always coming up. After talking with ChatGPT about how sick I was about always walking around with a red/pink face, it recommended azelaic acid. Specifically Paula’s Choice. Now we all know that with a lot of skin care products it can take time to see differences. No lie… I began seeing results from this within just under two weeks or so. The redness in my face has decreased A LOT. I am now at a point in my life where I feel more comfortable going out without having to wear foundation or using something like Cicapair by Dr. Jart+ (which by the way is great at covering the redness). I am extremely pale, so dealing with a face that was red almost constantly - I felt that the difference between my face and body were so dramatically different, it made me self-conscious. But now? I am much more confident. The redness isn’t completely gone, but when I say it has been dramatically reduced, I mean it! My skin also has this type of glow that I’ve never experienced with other products - not even my tretinoin. I use this product every other day. I have several products I use for my skin and I cycle through them every other day. When I do apply this, like with every other skin care product, I always mist my skin lightly with water. Yes, doing this increases the potency of products but for my skin, I can tolerate it just fine. I also feel that by dampening your skin, the product spread, spreads a lot more evenly and easily. While this is priced at $39 and being only 1 ounce, I know it sounds expensive. But I will say that a little goes a LONG way. You don’t need to be using globs of this stuff. Also, I feel you can get away with using this every other day, like myself, so it can last longer. Everyone’s skin is different. Like I said, I’ve never been officially diagnosed, but based on what I’ve experienced and what I’ve read, I truly do feel I have some form of rosacea. I also have certain triggers that make it worse; such as consuming certain types of sugary drinks. So I feel that if you identify your specific triggers, use this product… you should see a definite difference. Wish I had gotten this product sooner! I absolutely love it.

Product too small
I’m rating this for the size. It says travel size but i feel like it’s the size you get when you get a freebie. Sadly, it’s too small that I’ll probably be using it 2x or 3x at most. Be wary of the label “travel size”.

I don't want to like this!
It is with a heavy heart that I regrettably inform you that this is absolutely worth the price. Yes, it is expensive for the little tube you get, but it has lasted me a couple of months using it both day and night. This might be one of the only products I've ever used that doesn't give me sensory issues. I put it on and don't get a moment of stickiness or a wet feeling like I do with serum options. It doesn't irritate me. I even LIKE putting it on. I've used other azelaic acid serums, TXA, and I have a permanent retinoid in my routine. Adding this has been very effective at reducing a lot of the PIE (red hyperpigmentation) I've had leftover from acne since I was a teenager. It's not hydrating, it's not going to do everything— it does one thing, and it does that one thing very well.

“One of the Best Products for Acne & Dark Marks!”
I absolutely love this product! Paula’s Choice Azelaic Acid is honestly one of the best skincare products I’ve tried. With consistent use, I’ve noticed a visible reduction in dark marks and my skin looks much more even. It has also helped reduce new breakouts, which was a big struggle for me. The key is to be consistent, but once you are, the results are definitely worth it. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has been dealing with acne for a long time and feels like they’ve tried everything. This product really made a difference for me.
