Some reviewers suggested it didn't foam up for them or that they had to use a ton of it..I have not had those problems. I usually apply it directly at my roots (not into my hand), and as I massage it in I can feel it foaming nicely. I use about 3-4 pumps and that is enough for my long hair. I shampoo twice as per the recommendation, and still the bottle lasts about 3 months for me. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that I don't feel it is very conditioning, despite claiming to both shampoo and condition. I choose the things I buy carefully, and additionally, this seems like a good company that is trying to do something good for the environment. All of that being said, I did not have a good experience at all with this product. The smell is nice which is the only reason I didn’t give it a one star rating. I have thick straight/kind of wavy hair that goes a little below my shoulder blades. It’s not really oily or dry, and when I first used this product my hair was not especially dirty, just a little hairspray. And two days’ worth of oil. I had to use A LOT of this product to wash my hair, like 1/3 of the bottle. I don’t feel like it truly foamed at all, and like I said it just did not seem to clean my hair. The last and final negative thing I have to say is that it left a kind of film on my hair after my hair had air dried it felt dirtier than ever. I wanted to like this, but it did not work for me. It tends to be drying on my highlighted hair but have solved that issue by using the Mangrove conditioner available by the same company. I use a large toothed comb and be patient. It pays off my hairdresser says she has never seen my hair in better shape. It smells a bit like oregano but have gotten used to the smell and find I have grown to enjoy its fragrance. When shampooing I breathe the aroma in deeply now that I know it is aromatherapy as well.
