Dragonframe 3 Stop Motion Software [Old Version]

Honestly, the amount of control and options you have, coupled with the simplicity of it's design, is unmatched to date. There's also full support for integrating your own motion-control rigs. If you're serious about stop-motion (as in: you have already animated enough to know that you are good at it and intend to do it much longer, or are doing paid professional work, or are working on your master thesis for animation, or some other similar scenario) then there is no better investment than this incredible tool. It was made by animators for animators.If you are JUST GETTING STARTED LEARNING... I recommend you use one of the many free tools available online, like Monkey Jam, Animator DV Simple, etc... I only say this because Dragonframe is concerned with far more technical aspects than you should concern yourself with at the beginning stages of learning animation. You DO NOT NEED Dragonframe to learn to make stop-motion films.You DO NEED to practice animation with as few variables as possible.Hope this helps. I see far too many young animators become discouraged because they can't afford the tools that professionals use, or feel they simply can't do anything without the best tools available, and that is just plain ol' BS. Go get some cheap clay or some action figures, a cheap digital camera, and this free utility ->[...] and go practice your butt off! If you can build an audience with those things alone, then maybe it's worth saving up for Dragonframe. ;) Until then, just stay focused on getting good at expressing motion. Without first developing that crucial skill, learning advanced software would just be a distraction.Happy animating!

The result is beautiful if you can navigate the rather complex system. The tech support they offer is good though.

I've used many different stop motion programs throughout my animation life...from iStopMotion to Stop Motion Pro...and hands down, Dragonframe blows them out of the park in my opinion. Dragonframe's support team is fantastic, and this software has enough features to keep you busy for awhile, all while staying simplistic and organized. **HERE IS MY WARNING HOWEVER** If you are a beginner, or more of a hobbiest as far as stop motion animations go, I would advise you to invest in more simplistic software such as (iStopMotion) for Mac or a lower end version of (Stop Motion Pro) for PC. I am not trying to draw anybody away from this software in the least bit, but in order to utilize it completely and professionally you must also possess a copy of either Adobe After Effects, or Final Cut Pro, for processes such as rig removal and various other post effects...but a creative professional should have one or both of these tools at their disposal already. Again...Fantastic piece of software this is!

We were very pleased with the software. However, be aware you need to get a good "live view" camera for the software to work to its fullest potential.

The product is worth the money. It has an easy interface andis so flexible. It has a wide range of compatibility with many types of cameras. I definitely recommend this product!

Of what's out there that I'm aware of, Dragonframe 3 is the most effective stop motion software. Integrates well with Canon and Nikon. Other still cameras work, but aren't quite as elegant. It has a lot of animation organizational support, and addresses most of what you need with the camera and capture functions. Fairly easy to learn. Mac + Windows support. The developer was responsive to my pre-sale questions, and was easy to deal with. Three jobs with this so far, and all went fine. I'm happy with the whole thing.

I make stop motion videos for my channel and dragon frame helped me so much in so many levels. Not only it taught me how to be good in my craft but also made me some extra cash for some projects. I'm so glad for my purchase.

Works great with the Canon T3i. We had tried it with a Lumix GH2 and GH4 but they really didn't work as expected. You really want a Canon or Nikon to get a easy workflow going with this software. Very easy to set up and get right into animating.
