The care instructions said to wash first before using and hang to dry. I washed it on gentle in cold water. I didn't want to hang dry it so I took a chance on putting it in the dryer. I put it first on fluff for about 15 minutes and on low heat for about 15 minutes. It came out beautiful and soft, if not softer. And no shedding. I wrapped the throw around me, and it was like being in what I thought would be a big fluffy cloud. It was soothing and warm, but not too warm. It was surprisingly light weight. It is perfect for those cold times in the winter to cut the chill. I could easily curl up and take a nap with this blanket wrapped around me.
