200 bucks seem a bit much for just 3 photo etch parts plates. ARE they really worth that price?

The price is about $70 not $200. They are not PE but a thin wood veneer with the planking embossed and marked. They are adhesive backed. For a museum quality build it is probably worth it. There are ways of painting the plastic deck to make it look like wood if you prefer. It's you choice.

well, I'm sure the deck would have been very nice but unfortunately the shipper sent me Akagi photo etch pieces instead of the deck - I can use them so I have no need to return, but just wanted to point out the mis-match in items - thanks!
